    the goal of the auto industry in the Model T days was to make cars so everybody could afford one

    i almost feel the same way. I've gotten lucky on my maverick and on the comet i'm tryina buy. but every time i see a car i want it seems they are far too proud of it. I'll go so far as to say most any car i want to buy or buy parts for is overpriced most of the time. I just seem to get lucky when i need it most, thank you lord:bowdown:. so far as specific models, 57 Ranchwagons. cuz thats what i need parts for and you either cant find em or they're overpriced. (for me)

    Go to any dealer and ask for a one ton van, the sales man will sell you on the dual tanks and capacity seating, Then try to tell the sales man that we have two 1987 vans and that the bank will only give you x amount dollars.
    Now lets do the math the highest quote for two motors installed six thousand dollars.

    Yeah, practically any new vehicle. Why spend over $13K on a new car when i could buy a classic at obo and pour $10K in parts and labor into it?

    Plastic cars FTL :(

    New performance cars......a clean 67 small block Vette for $40K doesn't sound so bad when you see a new SS Camaro, GT500 Mustang or SRT-8 Hemi Challenger going for $40K and up.

    And, in 5 years, those new cars will only be worth a third what they're selling for new.....that old Vette,........it'll still be worth around $40K.

    The old classics bring big $$, but they tend to hold their value, and you're alot more likely to find a good, even great deal than if you were buying a new car, where "deals" actually don't vary much from the sticker price.

    I've been shopping for a used Dodge Magnum.....for a family car, so I'm not looking for an R/T or SRT-8......but during my search, I found some fairly low-milage used R/T's for under $15K, and even found a 50,000 mile '06 SRT-8 for $16,500.

    Any car, new or old, is "worth" what someone is willing to pay for it....$175,000 for an all original 5,000 mile '67 Shelby GT 500 Mustang?.....to me? No way, but it was definately worth that much to whoever paid it for one, wasn't it?

    All of them are over priced, just like the hyped up realestate market WAS. I think we will see the same thing in the car market.

    As far as old stuff;
    any Chevelle
    the pre '78 Broncos
    VW buses/pre'67 Beetles
    any '65-'70 Mustang(especially fastbacks)
    anything "HEMI"
    probably a few more that I'll never afford.
    As far as newer stuff;
    most everything,I'm not paying 30k+ for a 1/2 ton pickup or a performance car because it's got a v8.And for 10-12k I'd expect a car that seats 5 comfortably(as well as legally),or will at least hold some value so I don't have to pay someone to take it when it's time to sell.And those "tuner" type cars(4 cyl,turbo,AWD & all that stuff)are pretty neat,but not for 30k.
    Fortunately,since all this stuff is so overpriced,that means a guy can get into something pretty nice,maybe a year or two old w/low miles for what it should've costed new.;)
