gene, dash looks awesome. I like the two tone(if the pad is staying that color). does that windshield have to come out to but the dash in? Haven't stumbled upon a tech article yet
haha just checking. I can't wait to dissemble my car when i get home. maybe I should just take the semester off. The dash looks good though. you could just make it a mantle piece until you wanted to install it....
LOL! That's one thing I like about you, you know how to make one (or two) laugh Word of caution. Don't dissasemble too much. Only do sertain projects in sucsession. It can become a discouragement to see it in pieces for a time. Then you find that you have better or necessary things to do rather than spend the hrs deciding that you can't put it back with the same cruddy bolts etc...
haha. same to you. plan on taking off fenders, doors for hinges and floor repair, hood, what ever I need to do to get to the cowl(I couldn't make much sense from the pics I've seen) and dash. It's funny but the parts of the car that have been "repaired" seem to be exponentially decaying. Stuff that hasnt been touched is fine. I might take some more body parts of to put in the yard as my dad would love to have more exhibits in the maverick museum.
I have three mavericks. none have head liners. Restoring my cars isn't mechanics, it's archaeology. I don't think most would buy any of them as parts car. One does have an elastic band running across the roof with a penicl holding a small piece of fabric up. Maybe this is the headliner you speak of?
No perfect headliners.. Never seen a perfect one lol but i have had 2 cars with pretty nice headliners.
I did a search and found my thread from when I was asking questions. Good thing too, i'm almost there and will need the info. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=38201&highlight=headliner
awesome, gene. i here there is one upholstery guy in town who may not have gone over to the dark side. I may try it myself. I may be able to get a good price if I get him to do my comet bucket seats as well
Looks like from what you said, you will be needing to find the bows and stuff... Unless you do some modern makeover type liner. Might ask the guy what he can do. Some of them guys can make things happen and look good, usualy for a price too tho. Do the research and ask questions, don't want to find out after that you coulda shoulda wouda. Course that happens anyway, o well, good luck
bows are just holes, right? well. i'm sure they're more that just holes. don't want to offend anyone who has a headliner
The bows go in the holes. They are tension (I think) steel rods. They are also location specific, may even be color coded.
