I am leaning toward u-joint, but never had one do this.

When first taking off, under 5 mph, I can hear a squeek-squeek-squeek coming from the rear somewhere.

Sounds like a rubber to rubber or styrofoam type of squeek.

Rear was just cleaned and refilled with fresh lube, and all looked good.

U-joints are original with non-greasable joints and 140k miles on them.

Anyone ever hear a squeek before you hear the clunk on u-joints?

Well, I pulled the joints and they were shot. One of them didn't even have any roller bearings in it anymore. It didn't clunk and didn't have any play in it, but it was riding on a "mud" of grease and ground bearing bits.

It wasn't actually mud. It was ground up bearings and grease, that had the consistency of mud.

Surprisingly, the rear ones, the ones I thought were doing the squeeking, were in decent shape. It was the front ones with the 2 bad caps.

I guess with a hollow aluminum shaft, any sound anywhere on it will resonate through the entire shaft.

Not "it's a dodge" but "it's my fault"

The neighbor came over while I was working on it. He said to me "So, you finally gonna fix that squeek?"

I told him that I am severely hearing impaired (which he knows) and he needs to tell me when he hears stuff I don't. All my life, I have never heard a u-joint, I just feel when they start to clunk.

My hearing is getting worse, and I have an appointment at the audiologist on friday. But last week I started to wear my hearing aides all day long and every time i drove the truck...squeek, squeek, squeek! So I figured it was time to fix it.

So, not a "Dodge" problem. It is just an error occurring somewhere between the seat and the steering wheel. What we call an I-D-10-T error in the networking and computer world....

For those NOT in the know, if you have an I-D-10-T error, you are an ID10T!

But I am assuming this joke is so old that everyone gets it ahead of time.

Jamie, I am sitting here trying to think of some smarta$$ comeback, but it just ain't happening.

I drive the dodge truck every day (except for the periodic days in fall and spring when I drive the mav as a reward for kids I counsel, when I take them for a ride in a HOT ROD and do a burnout for them).

But the Dodge truck hauls my computers, computer parts, networking tools, etc... from day to day.

If I could fit all that crap into the mav, I would quickly sell the truck and use the mav. But it just ain't gonna happen.

Don't get me wrong...I still love the mav over the truck.

That's what I was doing with the "mud" comment, and it seems he thought I was for real. I even used this . So yea, ID10T LOL... another hard time :p.
