I just stopped at a local Ford dealer to look at the 2010 Taurus. The front seat was very comfortable, the back seat is like a Pinto back seat. I have more leg room in my 75 Mavrick. The instruments are about 4 inches inside of plastic tubes. It had two ugly plastic levers on top of the steering wheel so you con shift the automatic tranny. Ugly and dumb squared. I am fairly short and with the front seat half way back my knees were againist the seat back and my toes were crammed under the front seat. The paint job was full of orange peal. I challanged the salesman to look at my Maaco job on my Mavrick to see NO orange peal. The 18 inch tires will bring tears to the eyes of the owner when it comes to replacement time. I think Ford is in big trouble with this thing. I cannot see paying 35k for a two passenger, 4 door car. What a let down after all the TV hipe!!!!!!!!!!!! A pure POS! Texasjack
Too bad. Ford pushed that car through and its success is vital to Fords future. At least thats what Ford said. I hope it doesnt turn out to be another North American flop.
My guess is that you are not in the target market Ford intended for this car. I found the car to be a very sharp looking car. I think is will sell well for the intended small market numbers it was produced for.
I don't think the Taurus was ever meant to stir any souls... It's never been a great looking car or anything special mechanically, just a real solid average*. At least they made one that looks decent this time. *SHO excluded. Had a great engine, but it was still a Taurus.
2010 Taurus The outside is beautiful except for the paint job that looks like a madman with a mop painted it. It might sell with a 10k rebate. If I was forced to keep it I would not trade my 09 Hyundai Sonata Limited Edition even for it. The Taurus has a "warranty" good for 3/36. They do not have much faith in it. I have driven Fords for over 50 years but this thing is not one of Fords better ideas. Texasjack
I think the new taurus looks great all wheel drive and paddle shifters on the wheel a column as an option is cool. (Dont knock them until you use them on a nice winding road youll love them ) Hate to say it these cars are no longer more for the family segment these cars once were, they have the very well selling fusion and they dont want to compete with themselves in that segment. Everything I have seen these cars are aimed more at replacing the Crown Victoria and that market demographic usually does not require a back seat for the standard consumer market. As for the utilitarian market if you are riding in the back seat of one of them you have no right to complain
I like it!! Like it's been said, they are looking to replace the Crown Vic, soon, it's a dying market.....
Hmmm. Decent looking car, at least on the videos. FYI--don't go to Ford's website unless you have DSL or cable internet. It if chock full of videos and takes forever to download. I may detour tomorrow and see one in person at the local shop. I know the Ford website is going to play it up and photoshop the pics, but you can't hide the flaws when you are there in person.
I bet most of the paint issues is due to the "Water Borne" paint. It's not like it use to be, but in the end, it's good for us all.
Yep, YUCK pretty much says it all!!! I work for a ford dealership, and have not seen ANYTHING they make that I would own.....too bad too, I am a died in the wool ford fan, bummer.......I do LOVE my 05 Mustang GT tho!!
