i was trying to find out if theres a way to get my electric fan to reverse backwards to pull the head out of the engine bay after the car is turned off, but still be able pull air into the rad/car engine bay while the engine is running.
the fan would have to be able to run both directions, but if so you could wire it up that way. however you would be sucking heat off the headers across the radiator........ i think letting it suck the normal direction for a couple minutes would actually pull cooler air in.. my truck is set to always on and runs for a few min after i shut off the engine, im back on the stock alt and still have more than enough juice to fire it up so unless your running the big @$$ taurus fan at full speed setting it should be able to handle it.... just my $.02.....
its just wishful thinking it just seems that all of the hot air that gets under there is really not helping to much
I agree. Pushing air into the engine compartment will PUSH the hot air out. How did you wire your fan to stay on for several minutes after key-off?
I'm not sure how he did it, but if you use a power source that's always on (instead of keyed power source) then the fan will keep running until the temp goes below what the temp relay is set at.
its not a timer thing unfortunately, if i get it really hot it will run for quite a while. it is set always live on a temp controlled on switch. if it was a car i would probably not do that though just have a bypass and leave it one for a few minutes manually then shut it off. the truck has a bigger batt for extra accessories, just needs a bigger alt
