I decided to get dads tr7 with a 351w out today and get it running again. The engine is basically stock other than an aluminum intake 600 holley vc carb and shorty headers. I thought the black sut was from a weak ignition. I put my msd blaster 2 coil, a new duraspark module, cap and rotary button on it. I also put a new set of plugs in it. I cranked it up and it ran real crappy. It had covered the plugs in black sut in about 10 minutes. I had this carb on my maverick and it did the same thing. It is an electric choke carb and I have the choke adjusted so the butterfly in it is straight up and down. I am thinking it may be jetted way to rich but not sure. Any help or ideas is appreciated

yeah, sounds like it's running way too rich. i agree with you, i'd start with the jets and while you have it off it might not hurt to throw a kit in it

May also have a ruptured power valve...this will cause a rich condition as well. You are definitely getting too much fuel.

X2, check it first. Holleys are bad to blow the power valve, all it takes is one good backfire.
