Not the most upbeat thing I've read lately, but thought-provoking: http://www.topgear.com/uk/jeremy-clarkson/clarkson-the-end-of-it-all-2009-09
I believe he seriously underestimates the passion of the automotive community. I wouldn't say that scenario will never happen, but with organizations like SEMA around, the chances of it happening within the next couple of decades is slim, IMO. 40-50-60 years from now, who knows.
in the 80s with fuel injection was susposed the be the end of high power cars. in reality it boosted high power cars. i drove down the 1 today from anahime to dana point. thats where you see on tv all the super cars cruising the coastal towns in so cal. i watched a ferrari and a high end porsh gt thing (the one that looks like the gt race cars) drive by. i was just thinking man there goes half a mill. then i see a tesla roadster go by. thats the future. alternet fuel vehicals dont have to just be about geting the best milage. im looking forward to seeing hybrid or eletric conversions on old cars. theres factory 5 daytona kit car that is eletric here in san diego. its really cool. its fast. things like that are the future of perfromance cars. the sooner we embrace it the sooner it will get here as support develops.
