im going to downsize a bit and sell both of my trucks and buy one "multi-purpose" truck. right now we have 5 vehicles, tagged, taxed and insured (4 of them are mine ) so we're cutting down a bit. the wife has her Explorer as the family vehicle so obviously it's first priority, and 2 of mine are mavericks so they're cheap on the up-keep, so that just leaves the two trucks. here's what they are....

1997 Ford Ranger, 2.3, 5sp, stepside, 180k, just installed another 2.3 with 105K, new clutch, rear brakes, starter (used), and p/s line. runs, drives, nothing wrong with it. just needs paint and a grille for $2200 OBO

1992 Ford F150, XLT, Ext cab, power everything, tilt, cruise, a/c, 5.8L, auto, buckets, console..... truck has 260K on the body and 125K on the drivetrain. tagged, insured and would drive it anywhere. not a perfect truck but a great buy for $1,000 (pretty firm on price on this one)

im looking for honest opinions here. ur not going to hurt my feelings any, just needing some input from an outside source :Handshake

I'll take the black one, but it HAS to come with the SNOW!!!

Just kidding. I would love the snow, but I don't need another truck.

I admit, I am not in the used car business, but those prices sound pretty fair.

I just looked in the local classifieds, both trucks run around a grand up here, but would be much rustier.

if the ranger was an automatic.. it would be sold or better yet if the f150 was a 302 or a 6 cylinder

I think I need to come up there and take the F-150 for a test drive. Is it a 2 or 4 wheel drive???

Where was that U-haul trailer place again??? :hmmm: :D

it's 2wd. great pulling truck, that's the reason i keep it tagged and insured. i leave it hooked up to my trailer at all times unless i have to unhook it.

U-haul place here is at Wolfinbarger Auto Supply. i can get the number if needed :yup:

as for the ranger, you dont want an auto behind a 4cylinder truck. you'd damn near get hit pulling out in traffic. not to mention u need to learn to drive a stick

and if the F150 was 300 or 302 (especially 300), it would get worse fuel mileage because of it's size. the 351 does a great job of pulling it's big butt around. it's mpg ranges from 18-19 highway, 16 with empty trailer, 15 with loaded trailer (a maverick or something of equal weight), and roughly around 13-14 if u drive it around town daily

Id give the grand for the fullsize in a heartbeat, not so much the amount for the ranger

Also, I'd take a 351w or a 300 over the 302 in those trucks ANY day of the week.

The 300 has more torque to pull and take off than a 302, and will get better gas mileage as well.

Those 302's are gutless as heck. The 351s run pretty decent in them
