I am trying to find a secondary plate gasket and nobody seems to know what im talking about. Im sick at home so im trying to find this dang thing.

First of all, do all holleys come with it? i looked in the summit book and it looks like an add on:huh:,

Second of all, why do they give me 2 fuel bowl gaskets with a holley gasket kit and a secondary plate gasket BUT the secondary plate gasket just covers the plate??? Is this right?:bs::bs:

BTW the new carb leaks, kind of figured it would after 45 years:D

Obviously looks like the wrong one. I'm with Dave, ProForm.

The old style carbs used to have a thin sheet metal shim under the secondary metering plate along with the gasket in your second pic thats what the small thin brown gasket is for it goes between the sheet metal seperator and the die cast aluminum metering plate.the blue non stick gasket you posted second is what comes in all the new kits it is the new service replacement and seals better then the old style double platestyle and you discard the old metal shim if it still has it after all these years.

I rebuild, tune and mod holleys as a hobby

The secondary plate replaces the secondary metering block which has screw in jets. The plate has fixed jet orifices...(this is where Holley cheaped out with the 4160 carbs)Use the gasket that looks like the plate, screw it back on and then install the float bowl with its gasket. You dont need the blue one unless you have a secondary side metering block...

I only have a primary metering block, which takes this gasket (see above)

For the secondary plate, your saying i do not need the blue on, correct? then how come the holleys came with the blue one! You and joe are confusing me! lol

The kits are meant to cover several holley applications.Thats why you have gaskets you wont use for yours. You will not need the blue metering block gasket on the secondary side of the carb. You will need the thin paper metering plate gasket for the plate you have on your secondaries. You will need a bowl gasket though for the secondary fuel bowl.Personally...I modify the 4160 carbs to 4150 style by adding a secondary metering block and longer transfer tube.I dont like the metering plate. No jets to change out unless you want to drill the orifices in the plate.Makes tuning a pita in some instances...Sorry if you got confused Justin...I was only trying to clarify the application for you and apparently failed miserably.
Its been a few years since I have had to take one down and rebuild it though...So if Joe sayes that the blue gasket superceeds the old paper one, then I will deferr to his recommendation...
