I bought a set of Weld rims this weekend to go on my 70 Maverick. The rear rims are supposed to be 15x10 with 5" of back space. I know there are a few ppl here running this size rim. But when I went to bolt them on the tires were hitting my leaf springs. It looks like I need at least a 1'' spacer to make it work. So my question is, what did you guys that are running this size rim do to make it work on a stock 8''?
There is no way I would put those rims on a Maverick. They are just WAY too wide to fit correctly and a one inch spacer in my opinion is not safe. Sell theose wheels and take the money and buy a rim that will fit better.
Seems kinda big to me. I like em more wide than tall so I run 14's. I had 265-60-14's on my 14x11 rims on back and 245-50-14's on front 14x8's. I personaly wouldn't run spacers, but that's me. Got pics?
that tire needs an 8" rim...then it will pull the sidewall in and make the tire stand up straight...that is the size tire i am running on 8" rims...
i put 275-60-r17 center line's on my mav ( as seen in pic's ) and i had to trim the leaf spring a lil bit to get them to fit // AND put air ride shocks to lift it up so they won't rub at SACRAMENTO raceway
302-72, I just put new leafs on and there is no way I am going to trim them....IMO. But your car does look good
I have 15X10 and 15X8 rims for the back w/4.5 bs .. The 10's are way to big going to send them back.. but with both I had to use a 1/4 inch spacer...
My 10 didn't hit my leaf with or with out the spacer... The problem I see is clearance on the outer wheel lip I don't want to jack the rear of the car up for clearance... The outer edge of the 10" rim was almost even with the quarter panel... My 10 is really a touch over 11 inches wide and my 8 is right at 9 inches wide, I didn't know how they were measured.. advertised width is were the tire mounts not overall width...
Here are a few pics of the rim, I think there will be enough room between the tire and the wheel well. So I think I am going to get a 1" spacer and see if it will work.
I would check with wheel manufactures and see if anyone says it's safe to run 1 inch spacers. You putting some power in this car? Hate to see the NICE looking car with beat-up quarters.
I would trade or sell the wheels and get ones to fit without spacers. Some drag strips have flea markets first part of year or may list on racing junk. Good Luck! an hold that 250 back! Good answer you gave!!!!
