And be careful how you hold the crank to keep it from turning. My son bought a Mazda one time that he was told only needed a timing belt. He drug it home, and we found a few parts in the trunk where somebody had started the job, belt cover, alt, lower pulley. I noticed the pulley still had the bolt in it.....and the end of the crank! They had literally broke the end of the crank off trying to break the bolt loose! After pricing a crank kit and a used engine, we junked the car. Wasn't worth putting the money into it.

I have no idea why I said to do that first. Try drilling it as a last resort.

sooo new problem... the bolt started to break loose but very slowly. then next thing you know, the ****en easy out breaks. yes, broke inside the crank bolt. so, how the **** am i gonna get that out now. i tried using my brand new drill bit i bought to cut metal but nothing happened. im pretty sure those easy outs are made of carbide. brittle but un-drillable. so anyone got any new idea, besides going to junk yard and getting new crank...

Weld a nut to the remains of the bolt and back it out...

Maybe try a center punch on the remains of the easy-out and see if you can back it out or break it up...I had one break off in the head of my I6 and thats how I got it out was a center punch, just busted it into little pieces, and the rest of the end kinda fell out.

Pull the engine, then weld a nut on the crank. You're screwed trying any other method now.
