Always wondered this since I've noticed some people are willing to pay close to 100+ dollars just for something that is very simple. And hell, you can even save yourself some money by just dropping off the used oil at a place like Autozone.

    Or maybe Its just me.

    for an oil change? nothing.

here's are the only things i would go to a shop for...

changing the plugs on a FWD V6 engine...luckily my dad sold his voyager so i dont need to do that ever again...i hope.

    Transmission flush/refill.

    A/C flush/refill.

everything else i can do at home, as far as a "Tune up/oil change" goes.

It's a PITA on some cars to get the rear ones.... i would just pay the shop to do it. Save yourself the headache.

i remember not having a shop change my cables because they wanted so much to do it (don't remember the amount). I bought cables and still have them in my trunk. Bought spark plugs yesterday. Fail.

1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL 3.3L v6. Not really worth putting any money into. Cringed spending 18 bucks on spark plugs for it lol.

My commuter car is the Cutlass Ciera sister - a Buick Century. I've changed plugs on it more than once. Yes it's tight, especially compared to a Maverick. But it's not impossible with the right extensions. :thumbs2:

Unfortunately i have known people who need a professional to change their oil or they will destroy their car. I have also known of "professional oil change places" destroying the car of a relative as well....

Use to have a buick skylark that had the 3.8L V8....and a 95 beretta that had the 3.2...
I found that it is easier to change the plugs on the rear with the starter removed lol but it still took me about 4 hours to change the back three:rofl2: dont change the front 3 till you get the back ones done otherwise it will just tick you off even more that the back ones are so much in a pain in the A$$

plus you will have a spare plug to use in place of the one that slips and falls while you are trying to work from a contortionists position, then you can buy another for the easy to replace spot.... ;P

LOF,Mopar Filter,Esso oil, grease, all lights and levels, visual inspection of front end and driveline, wipers, washers, tire pressures, lube locks and hinges I think thats it. Just shy of 50 bucks out the door.

Then it goes up from there if it takes Mobil1 and the diesels are big bucks. Grand Cherokee 3.0 Diesel runs around 200 bucks every 6 months.
