Anyone have a truck around that year to tell me what rear end it had? im hoping 9 inch but probably not, plan on fixing it up this summer pics to come.
was hit by lightning when only 4 years old (grandpa touching it too!), less than 50000 miles. told the wiring was shot but probably just a couple little things we got it to turn over a couple months ago after sitting for 15 years (all the way in maryland where it sits) was also told that it runs, just dies after an hour of driving or 2, told the ignition modual gets hot.:16suspect
on that age range of engines there is a black module on the front of the Dizzy which also will stop functioning once hot after a certain amount of mileage... or when hit by lightening.... a new dizzy or that module on the dizzy may be the answer... Good Luck!!
That's the ignition module. Ford had lots of problems with them in that era. I have an '86 F250 with a 300 that I have put 8 modules on. 7 of them came from O'reillys and the 8th from the Ford dealer. The factory part has been working ever since (about 14 years).
That tends to be true for me most of the time, dont know how many autozone starters I went through on my old 72 before my dad gave me what he thought to be the factory one off of his 70(it was my grandpa's truck) that he turned into parts. It ran for the 3 years I had it and was still going when I sold the truck.
most likely that will have a dana 60 in it. the 9" is only in the f150s and broncos. also they will have the 5 on 5.5 lug patern.
Great looking truck! I would like to find one in such shape. I'm not sure on the rear end that would be in it, a pic of the pumpkin and I could tell you though. I agree on the ignition module go to ford and get it, any others will just cause you more problems. It was and still is a very problematic piece...... Get a ford piece for best realibility.
im thinking 2 huge tires on the back, big cam, and pipes going out the side, but thats a little much. (528 dodge truck on gears)
