Give you the cool little sticker with their name on it reminding you where you got your oil changed and when it's due next time....:rofl2:

apparently you dont realise it is a horribly designed V6 setup on a front wheel drive, or like if you have to change the serpentine belt on those cars you have to remove the passenger side motor mount and jack the motor up because they designed it that the serpentine belt weaves through the engine mount. Whats worse if you have to do something like change the alternator on those cars it can easily turn into a weekend project.

On my daily Chevy Tahoe I go to those places all the time for oil changes etc. I use my truck for work and have to track mileage and expenses, so for me it is easier and more cost effective to have it done by someone else. That being said, I never pay that kind of money, most I have ever paid for an oil change is $30.

Where in the world do they charge $100+ for an oil change?? Most places around here do it for under $25. I've been known to take my Maverick to an oil change joint every now and then when I'm feeling lazy. Lets see... around $19 to crawl around on the ground and do it on my own, or pay 5 bucks more, stick my hands in my pockets and watch someone else get dirty...

Happened to my mother's '04 Lincoln LS back in the spring of '07. She had the oil changed, next day was on her way to work driving up the interstate when the engine started knocking. Unfortunately, the check oil light didn't come on until AFTER it started knocking. Oil change joint double gasketed the filter. After looking it over, they paid in full, $3,800 to drop a new engine in the car, no questions asked.

They also take care of disposal of you old oil and filter. That has to be worth $85 (y)

i work in walmarts tle for now. what do we do that you cant at home. i dont know that you cant but more along the lines of wont.

our nice little oil changes come with us being nice to you even tho your really hacking us off because you know we cant say what we want.

you get to drive around all day and take it to us so we can burn the crap out of ourselves either with your oil, filter, or that lovely exhaust pipe that got put in just the right spot.

we get to your hoods fall on our hands or heads because your hood shocks are bad but they cost more then the $18 spark plugs that you cringed about buying cause your in a beater.

there are a few of us that are fortunate enough to arc ourselves across the starter trying to get the oil filter loose.

perhaps you have a short in the distributer or maybe the wires them selves. you get to see how many times we get hit before we let go and want to say something but still we cant. you pay us to not swear.

so honestly where does your money go? to a bunch of actors and one of the greatest floor shows you'll ever get to see.

What do you get at an oil change place that you can not get at home? Nothing but service. If the service is not good, if they do not check your car thouroughly, then quit going. Some of the prices shown here seem a tad high, around here $30 gets you full synthetic, an anti drain back filter, topping off of the fluids, windshield wash, vachum, and an inspection of the vehicle.

Grease the fittings and check the gearboxes, vacuum the floors and wash the windows, check lights, and wiper blades, check tires. a bunch of stuff that is harder for the person to do in his drive way mainly the greasing the fittings and checking gearboxes. plus it is fast.

If I bring in my own oil and filter (which I do), my local dealership charges me less than $8.00 to do the change and lube. Why would I even think of doing it myself? (y)

Yeah they started getting really tight about 89-90 if I remember correctly. This is what my beretta looked like, the skylark was actually worse.

I take my truck in for spark plug changes, only. I tried it the first time, but the hemi has SIXTEEN plugs...Fourteen are hard to reach.

After living with arms full of cheese-grater cuts, I vowed to pay whatever is cost to let someone else get cheese-grated, every 50k miles.

Everything else I do at home. Except the 100k trans flush.
