Heres some pics of our 1956 Cadillac Sedan. I have been staring at this car for hours, and still can't invision where I want to take it. Any opinions? FYI, its a "good from a far, but far from good" type thing. There is plenty of paint flaws and seems thrown together to me. I can't decide weather to tear it down and start over, or leave well enough alone and just fix the major problems. The bosses response is..... "I like it just the way it is, just fix it" Well it runs, and drives...... What more am I suppose to fix? What you guys think? http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0627.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...c/DSCN0631.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...c/DSCN0635.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0615.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...DSCN0616-1.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...DSCN0620-1.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0621.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0622.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0626.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0627.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0616.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u...thDSCN0620.jpg Rebuilt motor Interior redone 3 years ago (not up to MY standards) but its done Transmission Not shifting into final drive (shouldn't be that hard to fix I got Ideas). Since Lowered so much, front sway bar needs installed (I got that figured out to)
I say clean her up and keep those bumpers, trim and paint looking as fresh as possible.. And swap in the good stuff for reliability like a nice big aluminum radiator. My favorite thing to do is clean up and repaint the entire engine bay and all the brackets and accessories and stuff... All the little things.. Nice car btw :Handshake
Well its got the rebuilt 365 and a hydromatic, IDK if I want to get into a motor transplant just yet. And I think if I did I would probably go with a new Escalade motor and some nice fuel injection goodies and computer controlled tansmission ummm restomod/ratrod/classic muscle/ traditional hotrod/?????
Thanks Justin, I'm not even sure if you would consider it rat rod or traditional Looking through late 60's hotrod magazines this would be the style, BUT it was normally done on a 57 chevy instead of cadillacs..... So I'm having a hard time finding caddy's from this era done in this styling. Most I'm seeing are Just really really clean cruisers, and I'm not interested in getting it "that" clean right now. I Do like the idea of a nice propan injection flame thrower setup though Needs to push hard enough to not melt the tail lights constantly though. LOL To much time/money and I have other projects lined up........ Most importantly my Grabber. LOL
It isnt going anywhere so take your time lol now that were on hot rods and rat rods, it kind of reminds me of "Grease" the black car that is
never really been into old chevy's and caddy's of that era but i like it, and the flames suit the car great, it looks like that would be a fun car to cruise around in and the flame thrower exhaust setup on it would be too cool.
