I like to keep a Ford, a Ford and Chevy a Chevy, but its your car do what you want to with it. When I got my Maverick I was asked by several people at work, why spend that kind of money on a Maverick? My response, caus its mine and I want to.

I agree with this 100% and thats why I posted my last statement

People walk away shaking their head because they don't think its right to do so.
But if they weren't so biased in their ways, then maybe they could appreciate the car and that someone built it to suit their own taste

adding a GT-R emblem to a GT mustang. the owners think it's cool, but little do they know, that GT-R belongs to Nissans.:rofl2:

    Automotive racism.....No mixed-raced marriages!

Evidently, there's alot of automotive racists out there.

They're cars!!.....different engines/makes/models are just names and mechaisms.....not moral issues......Ford, Chevy and Dodge are makes of cars, not religious dieties to be worshipped or blasphemed

sorry Cobracleveland.....your rant is much ado about nothing much.....

although it is slightly entertaining and amusing watching people like you go into vapor lock and blow a gasket over something so silly and unimportant.

People like you? Yes... people that are dead set in their ways and can't understand people like different things.

I'm sure you've done something to a car before that not everyone liked.

This could be interior, paint, using a certain cam/header/carb etc

The reason they make so many different parts is because different people like different things.... Unless they are someone like you that has to have it their own way otherwise it's wrong

People like you, who actually insult Fords by having to tear down other brands to make theirs seem better, rather than letting Ford stand on it's own record and quality, like it does.

The whole childish "Ford rules and Chevies suck" and vice-versa hissy fits.....they reflect more on your lack of automotive knowledge and apprecition than any Ford loyalty.

Chevy, Ford and Dodge, etc, all have great cars/engines.....and they all have their qualities and faults, and if someone knows, likes, or is more confident with a Chevy engine, but loves the looks/style of a Maverick or Comet the way we do, there's nothing at all wrong with mixing the two.......it doesn't "degrade/defile" either the car or the engine by doing so, it's that car's owner's ultimate combination of what he knows/likes/wants.

If you get so offended and out-of-joint over it, well, that's not the other guy doing something "wrong".....it's just you being wierd.

As to your claim of "90% of people at shows turn away from a mix-make".....maybe at a brand specific show, like Fun Ford Weekend or Super Chevy.....and I say far less than your "90%" even at those......but at general car shows, which I too have been to many in my 47 years....

    I call total :bs:

In answer to the last half of your question....

My Maverick has a Ford 302

    My 79 Malibu has a Chevy 454

My 71 Dodge Dart has a 440 Mopar

My 64 Ford Galaxie has a Ford 460.

My 70 Chevelle wagon has a 350 Chevy

and my 75 Mustang II is going to get a 351 W Ford motor, although my 383 stroker Chevy small block would make it a killer

and if I wanted my Galaxie to go faster alot cheaper and be more mechanically dependable, I'd drop the Malibu's 454 in it

    So what?

I've owned a small block Chevy powered Datsun 260-Z, a small block Chevy powered BMW 318i, and GASP!! The Horrors!! a 56 Chevy Bel-Air with a Chrysler Hemi engine!

and trust me, no one was offended by that.....just scared!

This thread is a dadgum paradox. In past years, guys have been burned at the staked and insulted to the point of leaving the forum for even suggesting putting a Chevy drive train in his Maverick, and now a newbie is being tarred and feathered for saying what has been said on here many times before.

This is a fine example when opinions are just that - opinions - and have no substantiation at all and yet, the passion grows to the point of defending it to the death.

I hate opinion threads because they solve no problems and can bring the idiocy out in all of us.
