See right there you said if you want your cars fastest and more dependable by putting a chevy in them shows how much you dont know.Thats why ford guys dont like chevy guys, because they think they cant be beat, thats a load of bull. That was a dumb comment, you cant build a bbchevy as big as a bbford using stock blocks. And cheaper to build, not anymore.

Read his initial post.....it wasn't "opinion", it was derogotory and insulting, and made the silly connection that people who put Chevy engines in Mavericks even matters or relates to why he can't find one for himself.

They were "fightin' words".....and maybe he thought he'd get all sorts of pats on the back since it's a Maverick site, but if you're going to start a thread with fightin' words, don't go pouting off all hurt and offended when someone defends who/what you insulted.

But you're right...discussions like these seldom accomplish much.

He should have kept the biased, narrow-minded rant to himself.

Cobracleveland: I appeciate your love of Fords and Mavericks, just maybe show that appreciation with enthsiasm for Fords and Mavericks, and questions/discussion/advice about Fords and Mavericks,.....

not calling everything else junk, or insulting those that don't

And if you're looking for a Maverick/Comet, or need help/advice about building, restoring, modifying or troubleshooting or just want to talk Maverick/Comet, this is the place to be.

I didnt mean to start it off as fighting words, but someone called me ignorant and stupid and then everyone else attacked at the same time. That is my opinion and a very strong one. I am a ford guy but I like american muscle, and I would'nt put a ford in a chevy either, thats just me. I think if you do that to any american muscle you degrade it. Sorry to have pissed people off.

The post that I called ignorant... was indeed ignorant. It was uneducated... That is what ignorant means.

You said that if you swapped another brand of motor in, then the car was ruined and was junk/scrap. You later said that people would love the car until they seen what was under the hood. That proves you wrong, as people liked the car and had interest enough to look at it. Therefor the car was worth more than scrap.

It's all about how you word things, and you may have just worded your statements very wrong.

Heck, for that matter... 90% (a guess) of the world would call a Maverick/Comet junk\scrap in the first place. This statement would be ignorant. And maverick/comet people would stand up for their cars.

You need to quit while you're behind.

You're calling me a Chevy guy when I actually own more Fords than Chevies.

You're telling someone who's owned more than a hundred cars, most of them muscle cars and classics, and built dozens of performance motors, Ford, Chevy and Dodge, that he doesn't know the difference in performance and cost, positives and negatives of all.

Sorry, but my 454 is just more dependable and easy to work on, and needs less maintenance for the money I spent on it than the 460. They're both in the same general horsepower range, but the 460 is built toward a street rod engine where the 454 is more mild performance.....yet, could probably hold it's own against the 460.

What YOU can't seem to grasp is that it's possible to like more than one brand of car......you talk like because I own Chevies, I can't appreciate or don't like Fords, even though I own more Fords than Chevies,....and just because you like one make, doesn't mean you have to treat the others with hate and call them junk.

I'm sure you're older than 12....start acting like it.

I told you in the reply to the PM that you sent me that I never called you stupid. I said there is a difference in stupid/ignorant but you fail to believe me.

See I tried to stop it but know your mouth is still going. I have never said I hate chevy's and if you would read everything I have said that many times! Chevy engines are no more dependable then ford engines, and no more easy to work on. Thats why I am calling you a chevy guy because you keep saying they are better. I am reading everything you are saying and taking it to heart but then you have to be a smartass at the end. You need to act your age and read evrything I wrote. I said I dont like it when you mix engines with other cars, but I never said I hate GM.

Putting another brand engine in another brand car is not hotrodding in my book...its just plan wrong, I wouldn't do it. The biggest reason you see SBC in a '32 Ford is because it is a kit car. Most of these '32 Fords you see at car shows were built with a checkbook. Try talking to the owner and it will not take you long to realize this person doesn't know anything about cars. As far as the car being junk is only an engine swap away to make it it junkless and worth driving again. I see a big generation gap on this board on how people want to build their Maverick or Comet. I have seen some young members who know their stuff, on the other hand I seen some really dump questions from older members. I see some people give advice that is wrong or call parts by the wrong name. I also notice some people with a high post count never answer car related questions...only quotes from a magazine or a link to a website. I even seen 1 or 2 members who brag about what they doing and pat their self on the back every chance they get thinking we should be honored they are here to help.

You are funny. I realy want to read that book. Are you the one that got the lawsuit moving when GM started putting Chevy engines in Cadillacs?
