Not that I'm an expert which you might get from the comment I am about to make or trying to argue any point :p

If I am not mistaken wouldn't every gas powered engine be based off of the ford engine anyhow? Not to sure but I think ford gas engines were the first so any engine made after would be based off this idea:huh:

So if true then any engine you throw in any vehicle would actually be a ford in a round about way

My first vehicle was a 91 Dodge Diesel, My second was an 83 Camaro, third was a 68 bailair, fourth was a 97 Chevy Tahoe and now I have a 93 360 Dodge 4x4, my wife drives a 2007 Scion and my side project is a 73 comet parts car for my 70 maverick which I haven't had the time to start a new thread on.

Anyways back on topic all the vehicles I have owned were really great and none of them failed me, if it didn't cost a load of cash to fab I would use any engine in any combination of these vehicles, but like most of you have said it's just personal preference and is easier to stick with what was meant for the vehicle and I don't care as long as it goes when I push the gas pedal (y)

Wiki is blocked on this computer but this is what I got

• 1889 - Daimler built an improved four-stroke engine with mushroom-shaped valves and two V-slant cylinders.
That's the closest gas combustion I could find without getting into oil combustion or steam anyways just further shows that all engines are based of this idea.

Thank you for the correction and link Faceless.:tiphat:

Apparently I missed that crucial piece of information in the fifth grade

from what I read the gas engine was made over a period of time by several different people across the world.

My point was that Ford has not been competitive in NHRA Pro Stock in almost 15 years. You can call it lack of support from Ford, lack of new technology, etc. The point is that if Ford was the superior engine to Chevy and Pontiac, there would have been Fords winning on Sunday. Thankfully, Ford is trying to improve things and have three teams trying qualify for every race this year. Maybe Ford is finally remembering "Win on Sunday; sell on Monday."
