you can usually find 94-97 lt1 cars for under 4k if you look around. With as many cars as you drag home a truck would be your best option probaly.

Stay away from that thing! The 3.8 is the worst engine ford ever built.

those trucks would be a little small to pull a car trailer imo. You could probaly do it but you would be pushing your luck. I would luck for a mid 90's f-150 or silverado.

The only truck that would fit what you want would be a dodge ram. I don't know much about them. 2 guys I go to school with had those trucks. One hated the truck and the other is in love with the truck.

my uncle also has one. Best I remember they don't get very good mileage and most of the ones we have worked on have the dashes cracked

I've tried to get her into the roundbodies, but she likes the '99-04 better. That and I'm broke:biglaugh:

Then get a '97-03 F150. Not much square on those....

Yeah around 97 is when everything quits being square... But the f150 seem to have nice little price tags also.

Keep a lookout, I know a guy who got a '98 x-cab 4x4 for $1800 recently. High miles, but a pretty decent truck for the money. He hauls lots of mavericks with it..:D

1/2-tons work well as car/trailer haulers for short hauls and lighter loads, but haul a couple of large heavy cars/trucks for long trips, they'll wear out quick.

My 1/2-ton Suburban rode low in back with heavy loads (even with helper springs, which made the rear suspension harsher when not towing) and eventually ate the transmission (even with tow package and trans cooler) and my friend who hauls cars regualrly for both short and long hauls went through two F-150's in as many years before he upgraded to an F-250 and has towed problem free for the last 8 years.

I went shopping for a 3/4-ton Suburban to save the wear-and-tear on my 1/2-ton.....got a great deal on a nice 87 3/4 ton body for sale 200 miles away....

unfortunately, towing the 3/4 ton body home with the 1/2-ton is what finally trashed the trans.

The 3/4-ton Sub will be getting a low milage 4-bolt main 350 or a 454 and HD built turbo 400 trans this summer.....but to take up the car hauling slack til then, I went and found something cheap, big and nasty....

as for the V-6 Mustang, wait for someone to wreck a new one and snatch up the 315 HP 31 mpg V-6 to swap into your 96! LOL
