I've looked around, but can't find this info anywhere... I just got a 1976 Maverick 4-door (which I think has the 4.5" wide pizza-cutters) and would like to put on some wider Ford wheels from something else... Any idea what other 14" or 15" wheels would fit nicely? I'm trying to keep costs low... Thanks!!
Generally speaking: Wheels with a 5 on 4.5 bolt circle (if your car is 5 lug) and 3.75 to 4.5" of backspace will fit. Rim width is important as well (cant help you here) what workes on one Mav may not work on another. (Some guys can run a 10 wide wheel) others cant get anything wider than 7 inches on the car. Disc brakes make a difference as well (larger center hub hole) and different rim inner diameter on back side to clear calipers. Wheel fitment is an experimentation kind of thing with these cars...The only hard and fast rule is the bolt circle diameter. It is 4 on 4.5 (4 lug) or 5 on 4.5" (5 lug) Good luck man!!!
Granada, Monarch, Versailles, Torino, Explorer, Mountaineer, early Cougar, Mustang, (need spacers if late model) I use a spare tire from a Cherokee, so it wouldn't surprise me if Jeep wheels fit too.
Thanks everyone... The Craigslist search is on! Lookin for Ranger, Crown Vic, Grand Ma, Town Car, or Explorer 15-inchers. Gotta be an improvement over the 4 donuts I've got!
here's a site that shows you all the vehicles that have the same bolt pattern, but you have to check the offset/backspace to see if they'll fit. http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods-rat-rods/Wheel-Bolt-Pattern-Cross-Reference-Database.asp?Makes=Ford&Models=MAVERICK%2C+MUSTANG%2CETC.
