i have seen a few Mavericks on here with painted bumpers instead of chrome. My question to those who have painted thier bumpers..was there any special prep/paint? I was thinking of sandblasting the bumper and mabe applying a light coat of bondo or?:hmmm: to take out all of the small dings and then painting the bumper to match the cars paint..let me know the methods you have used and any special preps..even if you havent painted your bumper..what do you think about painting the bumpers..look forward to reading your replies..thanks brothers.:thumbs2:

You can't paint over chrome, if you want it to last, and look good. Take the bumper to a chrome shop, and have them strip it.
Painted bumpers is kinda out of style these days, and don't look as good on light colored cars.

To me, painted bumpers do not look right on an early 70's car.

Painted bumper covers are OK for todays cars - it's the right look for the era. :)

yes you can paint over chrome, it will need to be sand blasted the followed by a etching primer before any paint is applied done it many times with no durability problems

    Paint over chrome

Ur right. I saw it done on tv show. Can't recall which show or cable network, was either Speed Channel or Spike. It was on one of the weekend shows.
They also mentioned it held-up vry well.
