No crank or no run after crank??? Do you have fuel/spark??? Check fusible links at starter and check charge wire at altenator (the charge wire will kill the ignition sys if its not getting 12 volts at the alternator)
Cranks. It will run if I put a test light on the green connector by the dist. That's where I am with it so far.
Sounds like a bad wire connection between ignition sw and dist. Pull the plug and tighten up the spade in it so it makes solid contact with the pin in the dist. Its possible the wire is broken right where it exits the plug. Pretty sure thats the switch wire that you are jumping...
I am jumping the green plug wire that is just laying there. The underhood sticker says to jump it to check and set timing. Not at the shop to reread it..but that's what I read i'm pretty sure. Anyway, it's not connected to anything. The wire is brown in color. I am thinking it may be a ECM ground.. I can't find any info on the net.
Oh!!! Forgot about that wire!!! It locks out the computer timing advance IIRC... Its a ground...Sounds like you lost the ECM or have a broken/bad ground wire... There should be several ground junctions under the hood of that beast. Find em and check em/clean em Good luck Blu...
ECM problems are VERY common on 80's caddies. Of course the GM ignition switch doesn't help anything either.
