Yeah, that was a joke, mostly. Ford trucks were pretty cool that year. Would love to have a '79 F150 4x4. Actually all of the Big Three made capable and good looking trucks and vans in '79. GM F-bodies at least looked cool at the time. I had a '79 Chevy Malibu that I rather liked as well, except for that gutless 267 SBC.

For the most part though, 1979 was square in the middle of the Dark Ages of American automotive history as far as I'm concerned.

I had a 79 Monte Carlo with that gutless 267 in it. What a slug that was. I finally gave up and put a 350 4 barrel in it.

After that, it would tear the studs out of the snow tires :bouncy:

Nothing but tail fins baby! Really, 1959 was one of those off years for styling. After all the great 57's, the 58's started a down hill trend that really didn't end until about 1963....

I guess my pick for a 1987 model would be a 5.0 LX Mustang.

Excellent choice Jamie. My favorite year, model Fox Mustang...Even my favorite color......You pull that pic off the net, or is it one you know personally?

My oldest son was also born in 87, and when I queried him on his pick for that vintage, I mentioned, of course, Fox Mustangs, but he said he didn't really like all the scoops, flares and ground effects cluttering up and spoiling the essence of the car, so I reminded him of the LX's, and showed him your pic.....

He said, "Now THAT'S a Mustang!"

He also brought up another great 87....

Don't know the car, just pulled it off Google. My uncle bought one brand new nearly identical to it, though. His was a 5.0/5 speed, same color blue with the gray tweed interior. He totaled it in 1993 though, and it's just been sitting around ever since going to hell.

Qicvick, Is that a glass top and does it have a continental kit?? I had a pink and white 55 crown but had to sell it back in 75 when baby happened. Mine had power windows and seat also. No spots though. Beautiful cars.

Bob, it may just be me being a dumb ol' farm boy from Pa. but could you elaborate just a little?? Is that your gramma's car??:hmmm: :rofl2:

in 1954 there were so many of them where do I start but my mostest favorite even though I would not own one unless it was that exact one is the 54 tutone green 4 dr Buick Special that my dad was buying while I was being born. Mom was slightly...........well let's just say she wasn't happy with him.:naughty:
