Looks like it's sucking hot air under the hood to me. If you want cold air...

 

that looks like the...hottest...place you could put one...behind the radiator and next to the exhaust manifold.
w/hood closed...temp say 600 degrees...

Yeah... You see this a lot. I'm kinda lost on the import tuner's concept of "cold air kit."

Like i mentioned in the other post. That is not a cold air intake, its not even marketed as one. Its a short ram and they use it for the sound it makes and just for show. The tuners that actually build performance engines know the difference. The real CAI go trough the battery tray and down into the fresh area.

I actually feel sorry for the "real" import tuners. Because there are so... many... posers out there. I understand that it's not a CAI nor meant to be one, but I'd say the majority of Honda boys I've met don't know the difference. They certainly call things that aren't "cold air" "cold air kits."

Folks who don't know what I mean, a few minutes of reading any random posts on the honda-tech.com forums will absolutely melt your brain.

 

You lose brain cells if you visit hondatech lol, the only good forum on their is the drag racing forums. The rest just follow the current JDM fanboy trends. I really like these Honda engines though, they make pretty decent power considering a pop bottle has more displacement. And before the VTEC jokes roll in ill explain how the 3stage D15 VTEC works. During the first stage one of the two intake valves remains closed and it runs in a lean mode to get great fuel economy. During the second stage both intake valves open normally. And in the final third stage another cam lobe is activated and the valve is given more lift. Its the equivalent of swapping 1.7 ratio rockers onto a cam that uses 1.6. And all of this happens real time without the need to turn a single wrench. Now even Ford uses a version of VTEC on the new 5.0s but its even better because it actually changes the duration of the cams.

 

For all the work your willing to do, you could just trade me the hood for an real 69-70 mustang shaker top that I've had hanging on the wall& fabricate a mid plate out of a stock aircleaner lid. It would give you cold air, and keep it ford.

anyways actually if you mount the air in proper place's and its not taking super harsh bends its proven to get more hp then non forced air like i have right now.. and im not trying to make it "sound cool"???!!! just a past honda/dsm/tuner guy who decided to get a real car! but i like that spectre ram kit! just cuz a honda did it doesnt make it bad if companys didnt bounce idea's off eachother we wouldnt have a lot of what we do today. i've herd that the maverick was fords response to the nova but on a budget so hows that for an idea! but in all seriousness thanks for giving me that link thats the route im going to take also moving the bat to the trunk and swapping the fan to electric so now no high heat issues!!!
