Looking to get two Magnum 500 15X 7s for the front and two 15X8s for the rear Planning on using BFG Radial TA with the white lettering What will work? 225/60/15 - 275/60/15 ? Worried these will stick out of wheel well?? 225/ 60/15 - 245/60/15 ? 215 / 60/15 - 235/60/15 ? Worried too small looking Want a meaty look, ie fill the wells. Back spacing is listed at 4.25 and 4.50 Offset:6mm & 0mm Will any of these combos work, which would look best in your mind for what I have described. Thanks in advance ALL! Would like to know asap as there is a sale on and prices could change and I want to make sure before I purchase them.
Hi! I am running 15x7's front and rear with no issues. I have slicks for the back on 15x8 wheels and they are close. I am thinking my backspacing is about 3.75, anything over 4.00 and you will probably rub, especially on the rear leaf springs. I run 215/60's in the front and 255/60's in the rear. If you have to use a spacer, I wouldn't go over 5/16. Hope this helps. Lee "THE MAV" Richart

275/60-15 out back- Only rub on steep inclines while turning. 235/60-14 up front-Look pretty good but I wanna try to make 255s work with a 15" Edit: Rears have 4.5" BS Fronts are on the stock wheel for a 5 lug drum for '71
So you believe that the 255s on the front will rub in the well when turning when mounted on a 7X15 then?
225/60r15. Just put them on a couple weeks ago. Haven't noticed any rubbing issues, but I don't think I have gone full chock on the steering. I used to have 215/60r15 with no issues. On back, I had 245/60r15 with no clearance or rub issues, but I cut into tires on takeoff with 255/60r15 pretty badly. I also don't have much room left between spring and tire, cannot get my pinky finger in there. Those are on 15X8 and 15X7 cragars.
225/ 60/15 - 245/60/15, I used to run this setup back whenI had my Rocket Mags. the 245/60s fit perfect. Not too big to stick out but small enough to fit in the wheel well when the car was loaded up. the front are a good match, small enough to notice a difference in size for the Big and littles look, but big enough to grip the road.

Still worried about the sizes--too small on the front end to fill the well and or too big and it'll rub but these are the only sizes I can work with doing the purchase. Im leaning toward the middle--225s in the front and 245s on the rear with the Magnum 500s 15X7 - 15X8s. Hope it works since the car will be ready with paint and body work. Anyone running the Magnums with these
I had 15x7 all around. Don't remember the backspacing but I think it was straight up center. They were the uni-fit mags with dual lug patterns they used bac kin the day. I don't think I would use a 8" wide wheel on a 245. It would give it the stretched tire look, the 7" would let the sidewall have the bulge you would expect to see on an old car. just my opinion. Wish I had pictures of my old set somewhere. For example, kind of, the wheels I have now are 16x7 all around. I have 245/50/16 in the back. If I had an 8" wheel i would have no sidewall bulge and it would acually be stretching the sidewall out to the wheel lip. My front s are 225/? and have no bulge and just a little of the stretched look to them. Look at my gallery for pics. If you really want staggered wheels maybe 15x6 and 15x7 would be a better route.
If you do a search, youll find about a hundred wheel threads. You can go wider. I think the max ive seen is 275. Most guys do 255/265. I just cant remember the aspect ratios.
Thanks everyone for you input! I decided to go with the 7X15 - 8X15 on the Magnum 500s with 215s up front and 235s in the rear. Guess I was chicken to think that I wouldn't get rub problems with 225s in the front and 245s in the rear eventhough some of you said you had no problems. I just hope these fill the wells like I want them to. I'll try and remember to post a pic once everything comes together with the car.
