Hi everyone I just bought a ford maverick and need to upgrade the stock am radio it came with. ive checked crutchfield and do not want the cassette player they offer, I need a cd player or usb jack. is there any other affordable cd players that will fit the car?
Depends on what you mean by affordable or fit. If your looking for a 2 post radio that will go in, your options are a little limited. There are cheap ones like sanyo or pyle (http://www.jr.com/pyle/pe/PYL_PLR22MPF/) , but they are cheap and only 2 chanel but I doubt they would have all the stuff your looking for. The other end has stuff like this http://www.casmfg.com/radios.htm , also not their secret audio device.
you know my sound system with 2 6x9 in the back and a panasonic head unit worked out great. pretty much any headunit will work in your car with just a little wiring. I now have 2 5" speakers in the front and one sub in the trunk.
Welcome I agree w/ Roger. What are u looking to spend and mean by fit. Like he say's; cassettes and two knob radios are pretty much no-existant now. If u need cd and usb just make the sacrifice and buy one w/ these features. No need to buy something that has pretty much been oblselete for a decade or more. It's like going out to buy a TV w/ a crt pic tube. If u don't have the bucks just wait until u do and do the job once and be satisfied. U will have to do some modification on the radio bezel to make it work. I have seen others here open up the bezel and fit these radios in the fac location. I don't know ur skill level or what tools u have available but maybe ur around some other car folks who wud be willing to help w/ ur project. There are other car stero vendors on line also. I have bought several units from Crutchfield and IMO they are great folks to do business w/ esp., if ur relatively new to this type of upgrade. There are others who have lower prices but ur own ur own pretty much as far installion questions go. I am using a Dual XHD7714. I like it a lot. Welcome to the forum from northeastern Illlinos and gud luck w/ the project. :Handshake Since this pic was made I have made a door to cover the hole in the dash where the radio was.
i went with the DUEL system its got about 250w peak and all the inputs you could ever want, even bluetooth, it came with 2-6's and the player on sale for 100 and i got 2-6x9's DUELs for i think 50 + some rapter wire so i can upgrade later without ripping everythinkg apart later for like 20. for how cheap it was it works great, and all i did to get it to fit in the am's place was took the little plastic insert out and cut the bottom off of it and looks like it was made for it. i got my DUEL at auto zone they sell that and kenwoods thier but i think that walmart mite of picked ut that brand too now. i'll post up some pics later if you want.
I bought a Eclipse stereo and 2, 5.25" and2, 6X9 speakers at a sidewalk sale at a mobile music store here. The speakers are made by Memphis audio. I built a consol to mount the stereo and the 2, 5.25 speakers and put the 6X9's in the rear deck. All of the wiring is hooked up with inline plugs so it can be removed if needed. I left the stock radio in place and just unpluged the atenna and pluged it into the new one. It works great and sounds good. Shop around and get what you want and Enjoy.
This is what I used has the 2 Knobs ,all the new stuff and I-pod hook ups. its a Kenwood kdc-mp538u google it for a better picture. It thumps Nicley!....Kirk
That doesn't fit in a stock hole however does it? I'm looking to replace the stock type radio in my 74 F-100 and dont want to cut the dash panel up, or the mounting bracket that holds that and the A/C controls
How similar are the radio area for a 76 Maverick and a 76 Mustang II. Best Buys has a "Car fit" guide, but of course it doen't include a Maverick, just a Pinto and Mustang II.
I half half a mind to do this. It is only 1 DIN high... http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Photos/Default.aspx?i=110VM9214&c=3&tp=20220&avf=N
