This truck http://tricities.craigslist.org/cto/2120754005.html . I can probably trade the Caprice straight up for it. I wish it were an F250 with a 460, but beggars can't be choosers. Owner says all it really needs are rear brake shoes and a service (oil change, oil/ fuel filters). Already set up with trailer brake box and reciever hitch. Not very sexy looking, but should serve well for dragging in projects, hauling off scrap & such. And I like the Cummins Turbo engine. Anything to look for, any opinions?

Those were a great truck. A bit ugly and lacking power but that Cummins will run on just about anything. We never had to touch those engines at the dealer. They are simple and run forever. I would pay that for a truck with that drivetrain. Too bad they are all rotten up here.
They dont have the power of the later Cummins but they also dont have the expensive problems that come along with them.

A big yes here, That has to be the most favorite vehicle I've owned. Mine had a 5 speed and I really miss it and wish I hadn't sold it. Never had anything wrong with it just changed the oil and kept on going.

I'd take it, that's a fine work truck! I'd swap my E150 for that in a heartbeat.

It's fugly, but probably a good truck. Might sell the bed and get part of your money back, and then put a pickup box on it.

The bed is the second most awesome part of the truck!

Kinda thought about that, or put that bed on my '85 4x4 since it's a go up on the hill & tear stuff apart truck. Longbed Dodge boxes should interchange from what, about '82-92?

I guess it'll be this Saturday before I can get a chance to go check it out. Off for six days, goofing on the 'puter looking at trucks for possible trade and find a deal...the night before going back to work. Guess I should've not narrowed it down to just F250/350s.

Yea, even trade's what I'm thinking. I agree the Caprice is much better looking, but the truck could be used for....maybe dragging in more Mavericks/Comets, junk to part & scrap, stuff like that. The Caprice is simply another car to play with. I've got plenty of those right now (Maverick, Comet, F100)

Well, went & traded today. Drove the truck 120 miles home with no problems. It's in really good shape for a work truck. Driver's door hinge bushings need replaced, but the seat's nice, good headliner, hvac stuff works good and drives fine. Hopefully I've got a decent tugger here.
