this was on another site I visit and thought it was funny Long read but im Pre season venting LOL 4 or 5 of theese rotary buzz bombs frequent the track I run cause more oil downs in a season then Id bet every other car combined. I think there is 1 that actually makes consistant full passes and is a functioning drag car You can locate them in the pits by the 14 man tune up procedure they use. 1 driver 2nd video man 12 lackys #1 revs the piss out of it and hold it on the chip so it pops , bangs and blows fire. #2 points and shoots the video other 12 stick their faces over the engine. pointig and clapping. They then determine that its loud enough and has the right amount of backfiring and fire shooting out. #1 steers #2 shoots video 12 push the car across the pits and up the lanes to the line. At this time #1 revs the piss out of it does a burn out and stalls the car.. #2 shoots video 12 lackys then push it to the line where its restarted. The lights come down it goes green ............ STILL GREEN .. Ok the car in the other lane is past the stripe..... The driver then revs it to the moon popping , banging and shooting fire in all its glory. When it reaches the critical failure point be drops the clutch and 60 foots the car slinging oil all over then idles doen the middle of the track. They then determine it needs more oil , more reving , popping and fire and try again.
I remember when a German car called NSU had a rotary engine. It came out before the rice burners. It was made in the mid 60s.
I got a good laugh out out of that. Its dead on to what I've seen on you tube with those cars. They make a ton of power but when they let go look out.
this is friggin hilarious.. i was at a local car hangout and there was a proud rotary owner claiming he would never own an american v8 because theyll never launch and run with his rotary stuff. 'parenty he hasnt ridden in a real car.
there are a few REAL rotaries out there... I think we are just in the wrong geographical region to get the good ones.
i guess its just like all the other car genre's.. the loud mouthed tards ruin it for the rest of the serious guys
JHodges I think you summed it up Why why why so much oil? Why cant you keep it in your car? They are the bane of test and tune night
Used to have a 88 rx-7 man I miss it you port and polish those ports they sound like a million bees are coming at you lol
its a very unique motor, only few people can trully understand em and appriciate them for what they are. i think that something that small (1.3L is the biggest avail in a street car in the states) to make so much power is just amazing.
Yeah. In the end it's all about how much air and fuel you can turn into power in a given moment. My friends big block stomping 8000+ RPM old BOSS 302 proved that The little motor just has to rev higher to process the same amount air and fuel that a bigger one does down low. I think Wankels are neat. Have to appreciate the engineering that makes em' work. But the flying oil and other problems on the track bug a lot of people.
