Mods to my old truck

    Well, my old 93 F-150 is right at the 200,000 mile mark and still going strong, so I decided to reward the old war horse with some new parts. I bought a set of FlowTech long tube headers, Summit Racing Mufflers, a TransDapt 1" ThrottleBody Spacer and a K&N Filter. We're gonna start the work on the truck this week at school and I'm hoping that by the end of the week, I'll be driving a rejuvenated rig. I put new ball joints on it around new years, (They were originals and had 196,000 miles on them) new plugs, wires, rotor and dist cap, and new shocks. I honestly think this old thing will go another 100,000 plus! This truck has been one brutally tough vehicle. I've got a few more mods in mind for it, but I'm excited about the headers and throttlebody spacer. I'm really hoping it'll wake it up!

    Sure wish I had a labor force of young people. Maybe I wouldn't hurt so much today from replacing a freeze plug, on my back, at the track yesterday. :)

    Wow you have a freeze plug on your back, thats different, you must be getting old if it had to be replaced.

    Was it a screw in or knock in? I know I'd be sore if somebody beat a freeze plug into my back! All jokes aside though, it really is nice having willing hands ready to learn and work. I've got some really good kids that are excited to get to work on this kind've stuff. I love my job!

    Wait until you get my age. I have freeze plugs all over. Can't wait for those 100+ degree days again. :rofl2:

    It was a push in right behind the motor mount. :)

    Got the headers on today and the Throttlebody Spacer. Would have finished completely, but I broke my oil dipstick tube off in the block...:slap::disappointed: But, aside from that, it was a good day. Gonna have the EGR line welded in tomorrow, put the mufflers on and button everything back up. Should be on the road again tomorrow!

    Good Grief Jamie, I thought I drove a lot, lol. What motor is that?

    Good GRIEF!!! What a difference! I wish I had some data to compare my results to because I am driving a different truck! Talk about waking it up! I went from a solid old truck to a solid old truck with an attitude! This thing sounds awesome, has a LOT more torque ( I don't know numbers-wise, but it honestly feels like I bolted on 40+ ft/lbs of torque) and is very responsive. I am so happy that I did this. I'm curious how the fuel mileage will be affected, because this old truck is breathing so much better now! I expected to be able to tell a difference, but this is so far beyond what I expected. Anyway, just wanted to share! :yahoo::bananaman

    Great! I love old Ford trucks, I really wish I still had mine. What kinda motor does it have? 302 or 351?

    4.2 V6 with the M5OD-R2 5 speed and 8.8 rear. The original trans and clutch were replaced at 390,000. Engine is untouched other then the intake gasket. The thing still quite literally starts up, runs and sounds about like new. Burns no oil and still passes emissions with no problem every year. Been through a couple water pumps, alternators and all the other normal maintenance stuff. Ford trucks are the best there are, period!

    :drive:Mine is the 5.0. I love this engine- treat them good and you'll have a reliable engine for a long time! One of the, if not the all-time-best-engines... EVER.
