Crafty Suggestions though. I probably wouldn't think twice about if he said they were for the baby!

New Hot Wheels Maverick 2 Pack

While looking at the Hot Wheels Cars at the local Toys R Us. I noticed this "A-Maze"N Speedway" 2 Pack with a blue Maverick in it. sspx2792_original.jpg

I must admit that I have gone off the deep end myself here lately. My wife got me a Drag Track for Christmas and I've been having a blast with it.

I've even started researching ways to mod the cars to make them faster. In doing so, I discovered there is a whole scene where people mod and race diecast cars. I even found a fantasy hot wheels racing league that is quite fun. You should check it out. The new season starts soon.

I started a team there called the "Maverick Outlaws". Join up and put me down as a reference. Join my team. Its for Maverick owners only.

I only buy Ford's, and they have to look like real cars, nothing goofy. I did get a Batmobile, but that's cool!

I buy whatever floats my boat at that moment, 3/4s are Fords. I have been a lot more selective lately ... display space has hit a critical mass here.

I give a lot more priority to vintage redlines, so anything new has to be
"display worthy". I already have too many blue card HWs living in boxes in closets. The numbers of both vintage and new HWs here is literally hundreds ... I was 8 years old when the very first one came out. They hooked me hard.

And now, I have to buy TWO of anything new ... one for me and one for my grandson to rip and play with.... and he is oh-so-observant of anything new that ends up on the wall. He is six and knows the entire inventory. :yup:

I buy mostly realistic looking cars and then I have to be a fan of the body style... unless they look like they will be fast on my track. Then ill buy them and race it in hopes that my grabbed will still be faster.

I buy ones that are based on real cars. They don't have to be Fords but I do lean towards American. Mostly 50s-70s but also some older rods if I like the look (and they're believable, not some wild-assed thing nobody would ever actually build). Also a few from the 80's up if it's something special like the DeLorean, Grand National, or a car that I've owned before. Old imports like a Datsun or an RX-7 are permissible too, but no rice!

Have to set an example for my boy. :yup:

Also I buy the mystery cars whenever I see them. Nothing gets my son more excited than opening a mystery Hot Wheels! That's a dollar well spent no matter what kind of car it turns out to be.

I didnt know they had mystery hot wheels. I could get hooked on those. When I was a kid in England about 4-5 years old my Grandad use to take me for a walk down to the toy store every weekend. They had walls full of matchbox cars. Remember it like it was yesterday. Standing there in complete awe looking at all those little boxes. My favourite were the unmarked/mystery ones. It was exciting to see which one you got.

Yeah, we don't get the mystery ones :(
Remember, the Matchbox display cases, and they would have the cars boxed, in slots. Man that was exciting!!

Yep the walls were all slots with the boxes slid into them.

So... with no mystery cars, what do you look for when shopping hot wheels or match box cars?
