Just bought 3 green ones on ebay for about $6 shipped. Cheaper than driving to K-Mart. Takes some of the fun of hunting out though.

Hard to say how rare the green ones will be. So far I have had a hard time finding the standard blue Street Beasts version, and there were piles of the green ones at Collector's Day. It could be that a lot of blue ones were snapped up by HWs dealers that resell at the flea markets near here.

I haven't been looking for these as hard as the accurate Grabber versions, though. I really like them. :thumbs2: I am kind of lukewarm over these newer ones.

Either way, Dave, I have one for you - even if something comes up AGAIN and I don't make it to Carlisle, let me know when you get to the Nuangola exit of Route 81, just south of Wilkes-Barre on your way to Carlisle, and I'll throw it in your window as you fly by.

I wasn't able to make it to the Kmart event, but I did make it over to Kmart today. I was dismayed when I saw the Hot Wheels display nearly bare. Not a lot of cars on the pegs at all. But deep in the back, there was this one!

Yep! One of the special cars had been overlooked by the vultures, and I bought it.

    Behold!

    [IMG] [IMG]

I was the proud owner of a complete set. For maybe an hour. Then I heard the voice of a very excited four-year-old boy from across the room:

"Daddy! Look it's your car! And it's green, my favorite color!!"

How could I say no on Valentine's Day to the boy who'd just given me this card?

(That's me and him on the left side, at a cruise night)

...So I explained to him that it's a special, rare car. Told him to take good care of it, and he was delighted. Right now he's probably determining how fast it can go 'round his track.

I have two more on the way thanks to eBay. One for me, and one for the day he tells me he wished he hadn't opened that green Maverick he used to have...

Anybody want to sell me a green one? I think $5 shipped would be fair.

I can send you one Ryan. I haven't seen any of them yet but I have several coming from eBay. I'll keep you posted when I get them to see if you still need one.

Ray I know yours cost you more than $1 I'm sure. If nobody else has any they want to part with I'll take you up on that but I'd rather somebody get a couple bucks for their trouble than have you break even or lose a buck or two.

    Ryan,

I can fix you up with one, and like I stated earlier, I cherry-picked and got ones with strong stripes and emblems.

    PM me.

I got the green, but in waiting and hunting eBay I bought 3 old Mighty Mavericks and 1 Street Snorter. Then I bought the original 16 front the first release in 1967. And I got 3 club cars (Boss Hoss, King Kuda and Heavy Chevy in chrome). Next I got all of the old Spoiler series cars with numbers on the doors.

Gotta quit spending money on Hot Wheels and get back to work on my real car. 70 degrees today after -4 last week. Crazy Tennessee weather!

Something occurred to me today about those Street Beast cars released this year. Like many people, I don't care for the way they look, however there's something interesting about them. Take a look on this page at the other cars in that series:

    '68 Chevy Nova
    '70 Plymouth AAR Cuda
    '71 Dodge Demon
    '65 Pontiac GTO
    '67 Pontiac Firebird 400
    '63 Split Window Corvette
    '69 Chevy Camaro
    '65 Mustang Fastback
    '71 Mustang Mach I

...And the little ol' 1971 Maverick Grabber. That is pretty cool. For our cars to be featured on a short list of well-respected and desirable muscle/pony cars by Hot Wheels is pretty significant I think. If that doesn't mean Mavericks are getting some recognition I don't know what does.
