A built 6 Would be lucky to make 250-300HP at the flywheel. If you look at the compressor map of that T3/T4 It's good for up to 400-450HP at the wheels on the 2.3. Granted it doesn't mean it'll put that out....But i'd be cool to see more Built 6s. I'm working on the Falcon one right now, going with 4 sidedrafts
OMG! I did some flower arranging this very day! OK today is my wife's birthday so I have an excuse.... or do I? :16suspect maverick75: Yeah the guys over at http://forum.turboford.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php Think it will be capable of 400+ RWHP. I am shooting for 300 at the wheels. Not going to go over 20 PSI with the current Volvo intercooler. They go "POP!" at a little over 20 Plus the shortblock is a rebuilt stock turbo motor so I need it to last so I can finish the Maverick and begin my knitting hobby... Maybe I'll start dressing like a Klingon and going to Star Trek conventions....
define "built".. vague to say the least. One of the sixes I speak of only me and one other person knows about for the time being, the other is well known. I love the 2.3's, but to say that one will walk any 6 on this board is wrong, you don't know every 6 on this board and have no facts to back up that statement. It bothers me when people say things in that manner. I'll stick by my last post..
Hey don't bash the Trekkie's Just kidding, I'm some what of a comic book nerd myself and anyways that pinto is going to be awesome
Awesome_X Ok I'll out myself. I played the Star Trek Starship Tactical Combat Simulator board game a lot. We still have it Star Trek was my favorite as a kid. Also I hope to have more pics of the build this weekend. Had one change of plan. The upper intake is going to be in the traditional position instead of facing forward. This intake is also hogged out and has a "gulp" 70mm throttle body. And the T-Bird valve cover is now painted Ford blue like the engine and the ribs are still aluminum. Looking forward to tuning this thing. The SDS computer is primitive compared to the Mega-Squirt computers. But it's all inclusive in its features. I can even set the sensitivity of the knock sensor.
bellhousing Hmmm from past experience -cough- I recommend a steel bellhousing, because they can break.... .
Yes and like the 6 million dollar man we rebuilt it. Better, stronger..... uglier I'm still not sure how you managed to shred it like that I think I saw a scatter shield on http://forum.turboford.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi? somewhere. Only problem was it adapted V-8 T-5 transmissions perfectly to the 2.3 but the 2.3 transmissions had an issue. Mine is a V-8 T-5 but its input shaft is modified to fit.
Did you start with the 2.3 cast motor like in my old 79 ford courier pic up. The old thing still runs with 300 thousand miles, no joke i have the documentation from the man i bought it from. We have more fun go'ing out back every month or so with a fresh bat the thing starts right up, no knock no rattle. We can see the potential. After we turn it off we all say!! if the pinto had a cast head?
I started with a rebuilt stock 2.3 turbo motor out of a Merkur XR4Ti. Had new rings and bearings. And stock forged pistons and rods. Those 2.3s are legendary for the abuse they'll take. Flynbrd and I have seen them (mostly because we were the abusers) take nitrous on top of boost, on top of power shifts, on top of 150K miles and still live to drive you home. My old SVO's 2.3 blew its head gasket beating a Grand national in a street race and I drove it 20 miles home then 15 miles to the shop to put my new 2.3 in
Progress made.... Well we worked on the Mustang that has been loitering on the lift today to make way for Super Pinto. 3.91 posi gears installed. 31 spline axles, Sub-frame connectors, rack and pinion (I friggin hate him too) installed! Some pics: http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/Madyak/010-1.jpg My new valve cover http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/Madyak/018-2.jpg Welding in sub-frames. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/Madyak/025.jpg Bet you've never seen a R&C set up with crappy factory single exhaust Y-pipe still in place Oh, and sub-frame connectors. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/Madyak/017-2.jpg Super Pinto buried http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/Madyak/011-1.jpg The loitering Mustang that will be the victim of.... http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o150/Madyak/008-1.jpg This angry Maverick
