    Being this engine came out of a Mustang GT I would bet it has been driven hard and put up wet quite a few times in its life. You can buy a complete engine 15+ years newer from Pull-a-Part for less than $150 already put together with a good camshaft. Try and find an engine out of a grandpa driven car.

    when a cam fails the metal shavings from the failure have to go somewhere and the oil filter may not catch everything. If a piece of metal makes it through the oil pump it could scar the crank and so on.
