I've been thinking about a TIG welder for a while now, the timing may be just perfect
I just cashed in my bucket of pocket change (92 pounds worth). And while reading the new HOTROD (nod to the local boys for the feature on the Cad.) I noticed Eastwood advertising free shipping, and $200 off the price of the TIG 200.

So, has anyone had any dealings with this machine? I know its gotta be Chinese, but I didn't have enough pennies in my bucket for an American made welder.

Well, I can't pass on a deal, especialy with cash in hand, so I went to order it. As I was adding it, I noticed in the corner "TIG 200 /plasma cutter combo $999" so yeah, I've been cutting everything I can get my hands on, just to weld it back together. Both machines have worked great so far. The plasma cutter is clean and quick on everything from beer cans to 1/8" angle.
The TIG has enough power for anything I'm gonna try to weld, and enough control with the foot pedal that I can keep from burning holes at the edge of a pannel.
I don't claim to be a welder, but my "stack of dimes" to "dog poo weld" ratio is improving. I've been shearing scraps of 18-20 gauge and welding it back together, with very little filler required. Allthough the sheet metal does warp, it is very easy to smooth out with a hammer & dolly (much better than with the MIG)
Now I just need to uncover the Maverick, and get after the rust in the cowl.
