Every car show I've been to, Chevy's (Camaro's Chevelles, Impalas) out number Fords and Chryslers by triple. Of all the Camaros I've seen in person, only one had the straight six like in this video. I've never seen a slant 6 Challenger or Charger yet in person neither. I wish alot of cars of the era were left this way. Young people and alot of folks assume every car had a hulking V8 back then but that was far from the truth. I myself get bored of seeing a built 350 in every Camaro at a car show. I do see plenty of Mustang straight six cars, but I believe *many* mustangs sold at first were straight sixes.
6's were in a lot of them. I went to school with a guy back in the 70's that had a slant 6 Challenger. A local guy I know who buys cars and flips them regularly had a one owner, 6 cyl, auto on the column 67 Camaro a while back. I owned a 67 Mustang with a 200 6 in it. I've saw more Nova's with 6's than 8's. Even saw a 67 Galaxie with a 240 6 cyl in it a while back. They're out there. Lots of the owners never raise the hoods at shows though. Don't know if they're ashamed of the 6's or what......
So many had swaps done to them. Have seen several Camaro's and Nova's. Anyone remember the OHC 6 cylinder in the Firebird.
If I didn't have the 5.0 already it would be kind of cool to build the 250 that's in the car now. Hmmmmm There was a convertible 69 Firebird Sprint around here for years. The sprint got you a factory four barrel and this one was optioned with a 4 speed. Very cool combo. Ah yes, the half of a 389 slant 4. I have a friend that is building a 62 Tempest with an blown and injected Tempest 4. He's having fuel delivery issues but the rest is ready to roll. Haven't seen it yet but hopefully it will be out and about this year.
I like seeing some of these old cars left with equipment common of the time. If I had a Camaro that came factory with a 230 or 250, I'd swap one in its place because those nowadays are rarer in a Camaro as opposed to the time period, when many had them. My dad said he would swap in big blocks in all his trucks when he use to build them (1970's), but every truck he owned came with a straight six from the factory (and he built better then a dozen trucks) except one GMC he bought. He would try and blow up the straight 6 on the way home with them
