Went with my wife to drop off some horse accessories at her friends place today. I knew there were two very old cars there and a Ford F1 pick up but turns out there were more!!! Her friends boyfriend's dad had passed so they are getting things ready to sell off. He isn't a car guy so only one car will stay, that one is his dad's Model T he bought back in the 30's for $40. The rest are up for grabs. There is a 26 Chev last licensed in 1959 A 2? Chev A crusty old Model T contraption, his dad told him it was a truck. The one I want so bad I can stand it, the F-1. His dad used it for dump runs and it sat here for the last 10 years. It was loaded up and it broke down so he left it. It very solid except the bed due to all the garbage sitting in it for so long. There's also a 60's more door Fairlane. He has another late 20's Chev that is almost done in the garage next to the Model T. It was about ready to fire up and drive when his heath took a turn for the worse. Like I said, these are for sale and if anyone is seriously interested I can pass your contact info along to them.
I'd gone to a garage sale and found myself inside of the barn at the location looking at vehicles like this. Makes me think there are quite a few in Washington State. Is that a light blue Comet in the background?
Only bad thing about Chevys of that era is the wood framing is usually rotted away. Chevy used wood up until 36-37, Ford got away from it in the early 30's. Both would make killer rods, just a bit more work than a Ford of the same era. The truck looks like a TT, the heavy version of a Model T.
Floors in both the Chevs are gone and the rest you can see is very dry. There are some nasty compound curves on the back of the body. You would have to be an artist with wood to restore one of these. If it were mine it would be a conversation piece in the garage.
