Aluminum C4 bellhousing, ideally the larger 164 tooth one. Just cut and drill a piece of stainless for the bottom to hold your drain, and you're done.

Yes I have put some thought into this. I WAS going to gut an entire transmission and make a bird bath/fountain for the front yard, but NOOOooo.... Ah, marriage.

Of course. That would be trashy.

But she won't let me plant flowers in my old engine block either. I was even gonna let her pick the flowers.

How about an old deep dish aluminum wheel for a sink? One of the solid style that has the rivits, like the old Centerlines? A 15"x15" would be plenty deep, just have to weld up the lug holes, drain could go in the hub hole.

Might find a used one on something like racingjunk or ebay.

stepside, that is a great idea, too! I was thinking about a rim, early on, but since i have this fuel cell in the attic already, and it seems like EXACTLY the right size, I think i need to go that way.

I will cut the top off, and mount it just under the top of the cabinet, and I haven't ruled out the idea of keeping the top as a cover, placed on hinges or otherwise.

How would you even go about cutting a keg?

Best way is to first sleep off the effects of emptying it.. then drink plenty of coffee before you start cutting. LOL

Seriously though. Probably easiest and cleanest to use a cut-off wheel to make a starter slot for a sawzall blade to take over for the rest of the cut. :)

Same thing would apply to the gas tank if you end up going that route. Just make sure you don't use too fine a blade or the aluminum will gum up the teeth too easily and slow you down. Also be sure to measure thrice and cut once. ;)

Well, on further inspection, it looks like a no-go on the fuel cell. I have hit three snags so far, and figured "back to the drawing board"...
