I work for Oreilly's catalog department in phoenix. so of course I shop at Oreilly's. Ive Managed in the stores for Autozone and Checker/Schucks/Kragen before Oreillys bought them. All of them have some good and some bad. The Key is to not buy anything that cant be bought somewhere else also. Stick to the name brands. THe other key is find a counter guy worth a **** and only work with him. Youd be surprised how much **** we actually have or can get that a counter guy cant find because he is dumb or lazy and sends the customer out the door. My PM box is always open for parts questions if I can help.
I only use AZ in an emergency or when I need stuff like greases, paints or anything that is not in an operational place in my cars. I go to NAPA when I want good quality parts, or shop at Rock Auto on the internet. When it comes to safety, you can't be too picky. That said, my Cardone master cylinder (I use a 91 Ranger mc in my Mav) has worked flawlessly for 3yrs. Sometimes you get lucky!
thank i might just pm u some time yea they beat az i wouldnt brag about cardone u will find out what we mean if i ever need candy and pop i no where to go
You get a "Lifetime replacement" on the 1st part you buy. When it breaks and you take it back you get a 30 day warranty on the replacement. When the 2nd part breaks and you take it back and buy a new one because they are not going to give you a replacement the 3rd time. Ask me how I know. As a rule I try and not buy anything made out of metal from Auto Zone or Advance Auto even if it is a name brand... the quality is not the same
Guys an Ladies , check parts . If you order from some place . Take this advice please. I find it cheaper an better to order from Rock Auto parts, com or summit racing. Moog parts are the best. If you need least exspensive parts , Try an off brand like Trw , borg warner, or perfect circle. pst has a complete front end kit.
That is definitely not how it SHOULD be done. Once you buy the part for the car you dont have to buy it again. With Autozone and Oreillys a lifetime warranty is a free exchange of the broken part, no limit on how many times. As long as it is not broken from abuse or neglect the part should be replaced for free. the only thing Ive ever sold that was labaled as Lifetime Warranty that did not work this way was brake pads when we were still Checker Auto. They had a manufacturers defect lifetime warranty that didnt cover wear. I know autozone warranty onpads covered wear and im pretty sure Oreillys does too.
How are TRW, Borg Warner or Mahle(perfect circle) considered off brands? I hate too say it guys I havent been too impressed with Moog stuff lately, if you can find the stuff that has been sitting on the shelf for a bit its top notch, but they are trying too cut manufacturing costs just like the rest of the manufacturing industry. We really benefittied from their aerospace divisions drastic drop in quality over the last few years....(it saved us in our missed delivery dates more then once) Back to the parts stores... Napa around here just sucks, the counter people are smacktards and treat all their customers like crap, and usually they have to order everything in, and then they are snotty about it, its almost like they dont want too be put out and take my money from me, because that would require 5 min of standing on their part. My choice usually ends up being Oreileys, or the parts plus stores, even though Autozone is across the street from me.. But if I have to buy anything at all from autozone, I look it up on the computer and buy it online and just do an in store pick up. That way I just have to run over there and they have my order waiting for me at the cash register with the part I wanted, no messing around with warrenty crap, because it is already saved in the system. Or the guys complaining that i am putting gasket or something from a 88 5.0 on a 72 car, it just saves me a headace and time.
