Sold this just before i built my Maverick to a guy i knew....He's been beating the snot out of it at Autocrosses ever since....The motor that i had in it he split in half, i mean literally in half to the point where when he took the bellhousing and timing cover off the block fell into two pieces....This is with the new motor he had built estimated to be 430 to the rear wheels

That is cool!! I think instead of drag racing this is looking much more intriguing, to me anyways. Probably ends up costing more? Now when are you going to run the mav?

Sure looks like it's got some snot under the hood.

What has he done to the suspension? He really has to come to a halt on some of the turns.

I was wondering if anybody on here autocrossed. I know back when I had my Comets, there wasn't a whole lot of suspension upgrades that could be done.

If anyone on here is interested in this, go for it! It's a blast!

That car was built years ago at Maeco Motorsports in Cali...Suspension is basically stock with Koni Shocks, modified upper A-arms and a Watts link out back

I did autocross years ago in a lowered, modded Mazda B2000 pick up. It's a blast. Hum, autocross in a Sprint. That might be fun:)

My intention is to build my car to be able to Autocross, but I'll probably never take it out on a track. I just want to go out and drive on amazing windy twisty roads in the mountains and not wind up off a cliff.

That Mustang sounds nice but man was he way slowing down for the turns. My brother-in-law races chump car and he claims the mustangs would win every race if they could just go around a corner without having to come to a near stop.

I understand completely - that's why I'm installing this along with the 4 link: 0902_watts_linkage_original.jpg

I wasn't there but i think those turns are 180's in which case an F1 car would have to almost come to a stop

I believe I bought this from Coleman for my last Late Model stock car I built. The tubes are aluminum but I am replacing them with steel tubes for safety's sake on the street :)

That would explain it. No car wants to go 180 with incredible ease.

Unless its raining and you happen to find a manhole cover in the middle of an intersection. In front of a small neighborhood classic car show, full of mustangs... Then of course your car will do a 180 and you'll look like a showin off fool.

Here's another quick one of the car 2 weeks ago with the new motor built by a reputable race engine shop....Now i've just learned he destroyed this one last week in Michigan....2 weekends and it's gone....
