okay then, so i suppose the next purchase will be a brake switch then? I guess I'll see what i can do. And then what should i do to get the turn signals working once again? Anybody have any ideas?
Fallow the wires/ 'disconnect the positive side to the battery and pic a light that didnt work and fallow the wires you have some difficulty when it comes to fire wall or interior im not saying tear the car apart but just pic a light and remove the batery cable and follow the wires for that light if your luck it will still have some color and you could trace it thru the difficult areas and Maybe find something like a broken wire.. Bad fuse,s bad grounds light bulbs do have a ground the bulb that is or there is relays that fail..Enjoy but remember to disconnect the battery when tracing wires im not a mechanic but safty allways...
I had to replace my blinker flasher, it's separate from the emergency flasher IIRC. It's under the dash near the steering column (round, blue & hard to find).
did you check the sockets to see if they are getting...power? (test light-volt meter) the tail lights ground through the sockets to the tail panel. my new tail light sockets came with a...ground wire made onto them. they were ran to a grounding bolt on the frame...
i know this is a very old post, but did you ever solve the issue with your turn signals? i too have that problem with my 73 comet, dash lights or signals dont work, and from what ive read, in order for me to replace the bulbs i gave to take apart just the cluster or the whole dash? i think ill start with checking the fuses first. any help for this newb would be appreciated, thnks!
If I remember correctly, my issue was due to the flasher unit in the car as well some other issues with the light sockets. The flasher unit was separate from the hazards flasher and the rear left tail light socket was pretty beat up. I ended up re-wiring half the car anyway, but I do believe what fixed my turn signal problem was the flasher unit under the dash. Best of luck to you!
