I bought the Lincoln easy mig 180 today. Best I could afford! Brought it home and assembled it. Know what I hate? I hate that I have the wrong 220 plug for my 220 outlet. I had to build my welding cart using my $50 dollar, one setting, way to hot to do sheet medal, princess auto (kinda like Canadian, harbour freight) flux core mig. blew my breaker 3 times. Tomorrow, I get the correct outlet and a bottle of gas. Then I begin to learn body metal
Open up the side door of the welder and look at the chart. Plus, my 140 was set up for flux core wire from the factory, I wish I would have waited and bought a 180 now...I'd like something a little heavier..
I've got the 140 also and love it. I have welded in floors on a mustang and I'm in the process now of replacing the frame rails in my coupe along with the fender aprons and have had no issues.
Read the instructions carefully! If you are using gas, make sure the polarity is set the right way. As Dave B pointed out, they usually come set up for flux core. You need to pay attention to wire, tip, and roller sizes if you plan on enjoying a trouble-free welding experience. I have a Lincoln MigPak10 that I bought from CTC when I worked there in 1999. I still use it to this day (with gas). I also have another Lincoln that I bought 4 years ago that I run flux core on, just for farm-type welding, so I don't waste my gas welding shovels and lawn mower type things. A cover is cheap insurance too, as my garage is seldom free from grinding dust or general filth!
