Whats a good timing light to buy?I had a craftsman one but it stoped working so I just returned it and I want to buy something different.I have been looking at the ferret 82 and couple digital ones. Are those digital ones better than a regular dial timing light?
A vacuum gauge is a better tool to tune an engine. Every engine is different...the timing light will get you close but the gauge will get you on the money.
I am going to buy a vaccuum gauge as well would this work for me? http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...roup_ID=675548&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog I was also going to buy a compression gauge and was looking at this one http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...675551&supersede=&store=snapon-store&tool=all But I do need a timing light as well I was just wondering what brand you guys are using.
I had an expensive Mac Tools digital timing light that showed your rpm's and you could dial in your timing. I hated it! I had it for a few years and just gave it away. The dial is much better in my opinion.
i would suggest getting a self powered light. its really convent for quick timing checks. http://www.flamingriver.com/index.php/products/timinglights/FR1001
My vacuum gauge cost around $20-$25. It measures the vacuum the engine is making. I have a Craftsman dial-back timing light
