Hey guys I'm looking to buy some 15 X 7 wheels with 4 and 1/2 inch backspace. Do you think that these will fit? For front and back of my car. Please let me know what you can, thank you!
They should fit, but may look funky with that deep of a backspace. That's going to narrow your track width by two inches. 3-1/2 is what you want with 7's.
I believe that 4-1/4" is the standard backspacing on 15 x 7 Magnums. Can't believe that an extra 1/4" would make that much difference. I have my slicks mounted on 15 x 7 steelies with 4-1/2" back spacing.
Ok it turns out that the wheels are turbines from a jeep and have 5" backspace, not 4-1/2. They look awesome and are only $10 each, but I need something that fits and isn't so narrow on my car. Thanks for the info though guys.
good thing about a wheel with too much BS is you can always push it out with a wheel spacer but i dont like wheel spacers..unless its the ones with the built in studs(only kind to buy)
I think someone's measuring wrong. If they're aftermarket Turbines, they most like have a 3-1/2 backspace.
A 4-1/2" backspace will rub the leafsprings and inner wheelwells wihout wheel spacers if you have a stock Maverick rearend. 4-1/4" is about the maximum. I installed a Granada rearend which is 1-1/2 inches wider so that I can run a deep backspace.
I ran 5" backspace with 195x15" tires. I shaved the rebound bumper mount flush with the inner fender.
Here is what I have...15X7 front and 15X8 rear Cragar S/S rims (front backspace 4", rear backspace 4-1/4"). Here is what they look like. Just to give you an idea of what that extra space will do. In this picture, 245/60 out back and 195/60 front. Eventually went 225 front and 255 out back, and rub in the back before I rolled the lips, and only 1/4" clearance at the spring. Fronts almost rub the front of the fender when I turn.
These are stock, according to the guy selling them. I don't really want to have to use spacers. I really do want some turbines though!!!!
