We have a 73 Comet locally that is 1 of 4 using an Elite Marti Report - he was bragging it up about being so original when I asked him "isn't that a 351W in there?" He gave me one of these looks-----

Not to mention the aftermarket front spoiler and the Maverick rear spoiler. Still a nice car though.

Either way, it's a cool car! Maybe see if you can find anything from the dealership? I tried looking them up, but it looks like they are long gone....

I've grown tired of hearing the "1 of ____ " stories personally.

I like a good one of when it's something like the ONLY 4dr Torino with 428 Cobra Jet produced(yes there was one), but to work down to one of one because it had radio delete and full hubcaps is a bit ridiculous...

I kinda disagree. I love the fact that you could order the cars so uniquely. Even if it comes down to radio deletes, hubcaps or other "small" items... That is what makes it awesome and personal.

What I don't like, and I think this is also where you are coming from, is when people excessively inflate the "value" of a car because it is "1 of ..." because of some small detail. Kinda like turning it into a status thing, instead of a cool and unique characteristic of the vehicle.

I think the OB should see about getting the full blown report, even though I think it already is a super unique Bear Cat. I have never seen one in person.

In my example probably 99.99% will have at least a factory radio and optional wheels added, just because it came with some gaudy hubcaps doesn't mean they are desirable(I have seen a Marti Report that made the car one of one for exactly that reason)... Once past color, interior, engine, trans( incl whether column or floor shift) and rear end ratio, not to much else matters on most vehicles...

The trend for years was restore with as many options as avail(or at least could be found) to puff up the value of a vehicle...

Razor...that spoiler on the front and rear is the same as the one's on my car and they not aftermarket. Mine came with it as part of the Bear Cat package.

And thank you all for all the kind words and understanding! I am going to order the full report hopefully next week. I was just waiting till I could let go of the funds. I will post it just as soon as I get it, so keep looking!

I'm not looking to see if mine is "1 of ____" to sell it, cause it will never leave the family. I am like some of you and seeing how unique the dealer was in ordering the packages just really fascinates me! I am also tracing my 86 GT mustang to see what is special with it. lol!

And I have actually went to the old dealership and it is an abandoned building. I don't live too far from Rome and actually work near there, so it wasn't hard to go out there. I was hoping someone on here might now of a way to contact someone from any dealership that might have had this package. :)

No, mavtricks71, it has been painted once since Mom got it. My Dad painted it in 1986 with 86 Corvette Flame Red in Emron. He actually painted the stripe on and cleared over it. It looks pretty good, but you can tell that it is a little off. It is faded really bad. Looks good wet! lol

I'm sure your Bear Cat came with the spoiler. As for the car in the photo, I seriously doubt it. That car is far from original and standard Comets certainly didn't come with them. On a side note, I don't think Ford made the Bear Cat package either (I could be wrong) so I would think even your spoiler is likely a/m. It would be unlike any manufacture to tool up to make such a small quantity of items. My bet is some company in Ga did the mods to the cars for those few dealerships that sold them. I'm not trying to take away from your car because it is still very rare and desirable. Lots of dealerships did conversions to cars, trucks, and vans to help increase sales like that. They still do. And please don't think I'm saying anything bad about your car because I'm not. I'd love to have it myself. But I do believe I'm correct in this. Keep on enjoying it and keep asking questions. Hopefully you'll eventually get all the info you're looking for.
