So on my hi po 289 I plan on putting 70 Cleveland heads. I was wondering if my cam would work with this setup. The cam I plan to install is the nostalgia 271 cam from comp cams it has a 290 duration with a 500 lift

It costs so much to make a Cleveland head work on a Windsor block for the final outcome of a lazy motor, you would be much better off buying a new set of good aluminum heads.

I've run Clevors and they don't come alive until very high RPMs, probably a RPM range you will never see on a street car. You have to plug a hole on the deck surface of the Cleveland head and drill a water hole in the intake face. You have to find an intake to fit. Original Boss intakes will bring $1200-2000 depending on condition. Edelbrock makes an intake now, but it fits 2bbl heads. 4bbl heads are way, way too big for a SBF. No torque, no air velocity thru the intake ports, lousy carb signals. Not really that good of a combination except high RPM drag racing.

I would spend my money on good aluminum heads and sell the Cleveland heads.

I'm hoping you're running Aussie 2 barrel heads with the closed chambers because that thing's gonna make no power till about 5000 RPM if you plan on running 4 barrel heads.

IMO I would say no go on that cam. If you put high RPM Cleveland heads on that 289 you're going to want a solid cam.

Sounds like that combo needs 100 more cubic inches or 1000 more RPM :)
