I'm not as mechanic-savvy as my dad, so sorry for the bad questions or things I might say. Thank you for the information :)

Ask when you need to.. That's how we learn what we don't know.. There is allot to learn about these cars when it comes to the fine details.

Nice!! Verified as a true GT car. The light blue with the black GT stripes will be a good looking combo if you decide to paint it back the original color.

I am partial to the 3B Light Blue with black stripe combo. That's the color of one of my Maverick Grabbers. Good luck with your project.

    Thanks

What do I need to look for to try to verify the motor is original, the rear end, etc? Now that we know it's an original GT we want to restore it back to a stock looking car and verifying original parts would be nice.

That will be a sharp-looking and well-optioned car, restored! Nice Job!! I took the liberty of adding your VIN to our VIN List. Thanks for sharing your Marti-Report.

Part of the VIN is hand stamped into the back of the block and on top of the transmission. Send me an email (see below) and I will send you some pictures of what to look for.

You may be thinking about a 72 grill with the stainless slats. They are often referred to as chrome like the rest of the trim. From what I have learned, the slatted grill is a 71 GT and 72 GT item.

The car that you posted is Grabber Blue, not Light Blue.
