i was autocrossing again today. i really made no changes to the car from last time. it was a great time. the car works so well. the driver has a lot to learn! i had 2 clean runs and 2 really messy runs where i really gave the cones the what for! heres the video im still not happy with the brake pedal feel. i can not get it firm. i have bleed gallons of fluid through the system in every way i know how to. im going to swap to a cnc tandem bias bar master cylinder that i have to see if it makes it all better. if it doesnt im replacing the hard line from the front to the rear. thats the only stop piece in the whole system. im also going to make some hiem joint strut rods, and a strut tower brace.
great video. just watched it without sound - that's even more impressive, looks like the car handles like a go-kart...
my pedal has always been squishy. ive changed mastercylinders, bleed gallons of brake fluid, put in 2 psi residual valves, clocked the front calipers to get the bleeders at 12 o clock and still squishy pedal. ive put plugs in the outlet ports of the mastercylinder, to rebench bleed it and still ended up with a little bit of squishyness with the ports blocked. im going to swap to the cnc tandom set up and hope for the best. i do run racing pads in the front and that really helped the braking but its a band aid.
Any chance something is flexing between the pedal to master or the firewall? Another thing to consider, is there someplace air is getting into the system after you bleed it? On my GTO I had the old four piston disc brakes that had a disc specific valve that was separate from the prop valve. I fought a spongy pedal for what seemed like forever until I bypassed that valve. It wasn't letting fluid out but every time I let off the brakes, it sucked a little air in. Never had an issue after that.
Wow! I'm amazed of how good your car handles, if I hadn't seen it on the video I wouldn't ever thought that was a maverick. I'd be spinning in circles if I'd tried to do that with mine! You must have some serious pro mods on your car, kudos!
