With my new job I have been really busy. No more side work for me, just not enough time for it. That is good and bad. It also means I don;t have much time in the garage at all. Today while my girls were at the barn riding their horse and my wife was at church, I took the opportunity to get in a much needed Therapy Session!

Four hours later and all I got done was block sanding the drivers quarter and door. As well as the upper sail panel and A pillar. I started with 100 grit, then a guide coat followed by 120 grit. I will continue onto the fender with the same process. Once done I will follow it up with 180 grit and then put on the final primer.

At that point I will work my way around the car a few panels at a time. This is such a long tedious process............

Do you know the part number by any chance or what type of column you went with, thanks!

I don't remember off hand, might be able to dig that up for you. However, please remember that it was not a bolt in replacement column. I had to custom fabricate new upper and lower mounts to fit the Maverick. They don't make a direct fit for our cars. If you are still interested I can try and look at my records and see what I have.

I'm definitely interested, I'm already doing floor work and having to fabricate new pedals so might as well, thanks

I spent the better part of the day in the garage today block sanding. Almost the entire driver side is now done and ready for final primer. Panel alignment is great, door gaps look good.

I think you need a bit more rubber on the rear there ... lol. Looks just like my spare.

    Nice to see progress.

Yup, just a space saver spare being used as a roller so the nice wheels and tires stay nice.

I am looking at the carl lift? Is it capable of handling the weight w/ engine/drivetrain in the car ? I am wondering if it is stable w/ the small contact area w/ the ground? Is the jack stand om the front passenger side making contact w/ the chassis. I've followed this post from the start and interested in seeing what I think will be an awesome build.

Good question about the lift. That one is from Snap On, other companies make them as well, and for much less money. They are rated for 7000 pounds. I have had full size Chevy Suburbans on this lift without issue at all. Yes, you can rock it from side to side if you are to really try, but all in all the car is very stable on there. What I like most is that it is mobile. When not needed I can just park over it, or with the dolly roll it over to another bay, or even against the wall. As you see it here it is at full height, about 40". The down side, you can't do transmission work or much anything in the center of the car. But for general maintenance work, or body work it is the bomb.

I appreciate you following along with the build, and your positive comments. I have struggled with giving this car the time it deserves, 6 years so far and still not done is a shame. And yet in the same time I have built or done all body work and paint on no less than a dozen other cars for myself or friends. I clearly need to ficus on this one now.

This car will have paint join it before spring!

I've considered a lift like that since I'm limited on headroom but I still haven't justified the purchase.

When you finally do it, you will wonder how you ever got along without it. When I built this garage I was thinking about a two, or even a four post lift. I'm glad I didn't. As nice as they are, you always have the posts in the way, permanently. No thanks.

What really got me thinking about it is a thread on The Garage Journal, this guy has a real nice setup considering the lack of square footage.

Good usage of space, hope that work bench is on wheels though.
Love that recessed lift idea but...Gotta have a good drain in that pit. Unless you never get rain or have water/coolant etc on the floor in your shop.
I do love those Fuches wheels though...Makes me miss my old 944...

Holy cow, have I really not updated this in almost six months?? Man, time is flying by.

So I finally was able to talk Mav Man into one of his trunk lids with the integrated spoiler. I absolutely love it. But if you have followed along this far, then you know I had to tweak it to my specs. This is in no way saying the product he makes isn't worthy, I just wanted the gaps more to my expectations just like I did on the hood.

I wasn't digging the gap from the trunk to the end cap, so.......
