I bought my maverick with an EFI 5.0 already installed, I need a new throttle cable as mine is "sticky". I have no idea what cable was used for this. What cable are you guys using for your fuel injected 5.0 Mavericks? Thanks!

AFAIK all fox body throttle cables for Stang, T-Bird, LSC Lincoln, etc are same(ones with throttle body on passenger side, but not later models with curved intake)... The full size use a different cable as upper intake is reversed...

Ah, and the foxbody cable will mount to the maverick firewall and gas pedal?

I suppose it should, really don't have many(any?) other choices... Possibly need the late gas pedal, if that's the case you probably already have one...

I bought an aftermarket fox body cable from O'Reilly's. It bolted to the firewall fine and clipped to the gas pedal fine. But the throttle only opens about 3/4 though, so buy a good used one if you can.

Lokar throttle cable and a '74 gas pedal worked for me.

    I just bought a lokar throttle cable for a 86-93 5.0. The 94/95 won't fit.

Try a 91 Mustang throttle cable . We've used these on several FI setups and they work fine. On a LARGER throttle body with a stick shift you may find the gas pedal feel a bit " touchy" to remedy this we've raised the Pivot-Point on the STOCK gas pedal so its nearer to where the cable attaches. This gives the pedal more travel and makes it less sensitive. Hope this information helps.

I have to agree with Chip. My Lokar set up can be a bit sensitive.

Excellent, this all helps a lot, thank you guys. My pedal is too sensitive in addition to being notchy/sticky, so I will look into moving the pedal as well.

Chip, Thank you so much for suggesting that! I raised the pivot point, and my mavericks drivability has been transformed. I can ACTUALLY give it a little gas now, and it wont rev up like crazy! AND i can keep a steady cruising speed on the highway. It’s like a NORMAL CAR NOW. The stickyness has all but disappeared.

One thing i did notice, is that I should move the mounting point for the cable on the firewall down an inch or two, as the cable angle is a bit extreme. Did you end up doing this on yours?

    Hey Phil:
Glad things are working out for your gas pedal . On OUR cars that are fuel injection the gas pedal mounting bracket
had a piece of 3/16ths inch flat stock welded to the underside and NEW mounting holes were drilled in " IT " 7/8ths
of an inch LOWER to compensate for the pivot point being " raised " 7/8ths of an inch so the throttle cable attachment point is still in the FACTORY LOCATION. Incidentally , this information was gleaned from Bill Roberts here at C.A.M.E.O. .. he has done several cars like this and they all work great . We cal him " Doctor Bill " because he can usually FIX anything !! He's installing power window in the Maverick as I type this insertion.

Excellent idea, I ended up doing this, and it's positioned perfectly now. Sensitivity is good, however the "stickiness" is back, the cable is certainly toast.
Power windows for the win! My maverick has them as well.

After doing some research on the mustang sites, many of the aftermarket cables made for foxbodys wont allow the throttle body to open all the way.

71Mavrk- Which Lokar cable did you use? I was looking into this one: http://www.amazon.com/Lokar-TC-1000U36-Universal-Throttle-Cable/dp/B000COL2VU

    Phil,
I used the TC-1000HT which is a 24" long cable. It was a little short for good routing but works. They make a TC-1000HT36 which is 36". I cannot recall how the throttle end of the cable was fitted. It may be easy to cut it down a bit shorter. I'm away from my car right now and cannot look for a few more weeks.

I have no issues with full throttle opening.

You might have to get a mounting bracket too.
