You can't compare a 73-74 grabber price to a 72? Alot of times the hood alone is worth more than a whole 74. Don't settle for that and if they try and pay you that don't cash the check, fight for it.

Agreed-value collector car insurance is your friend. Had the same thing happen many years ago before I knew about collector car insurance. Guy hit me, did $1300 damage to my Maverick. Book value was only $700 so they totaled my car and gave me the $700. I told the insurance company my seats cost more than that! Then I had to pay them $115 or so to get my car back. Lesson learned.

I just got insurance for a 1972 Maverick I have big $ into. I was told the best I could get was $10K for a nice Maverick. Ughhh, way short. I begged and he said $15K or an appraisal for anything more (which he said I probably would not get). I weaseled into 20K by calling it a muscle car for more $. Anyway, 10K should be a minimum for a total of a good Maverick. Good Luck!

The state you live in sets the rules for auto insurance. I had Grundy once upon a time and was paying $220 a year for $10K coverage here in PA. Every year they would jack up the premium $15-$20.

You're dealing with the wrong insurance companies.

you have to find some pics of comparable cars then tell them you are going to sue the only language insurance companies understand is a Lawyer's

I was expecting atleast 4-5K value on it and for them to compensate for upgrades as I have had happen in the past, but yes I have been searching for comparable cars mostly anywhere from 3500-10,000 is kind of what ive been looking at but the high priced ones have decent looking paint but maybe no efi/5 speed so its hard to compare. I am going to goto a freinds body shop today to see what kind of deal he will give me.

We should create a section for those who wish to share their appraisals and auction sales. It would make it easier for everyone.
